FREE Fishing Events
- Family Fishing Events provide opportunities for people of all ages who have never fished or have not fished in years to learn and enjoy the activity. Rods and reels, as well as bait and fishing instruction, will be available for free. Look for the Family Fishing Trailer at each site. At these events, Game and Parks staff and Certified Fishing Instructors teach families the basics of this fun and relaxing activity. Appropriate fishing and park permits are required.

25th Anniversary Adventure Trail at Mahoney State Park – Saturday, June 25 (8:30 – 11 a.m.)
- Celebrate Mahoney State Park’s 25th Anniversary by participating and competing in the Adventure Trail. This family-friendly event will run with teams of two and three. The event will begin at 9 a.m. and will last 2 hours, crossing the finish line at 11 a.m. Participants can begin registration and check-ins around 8:30 a.m. at the Owen Marina and Craft Center. Big Birthday Bash at the Omaha Children’s Museum – Saturday, June 25, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

- Families who are new to camping may take part in recreational activities such as lake fishing, kayaking, archery and shooting sports, guided by expert instructors. Other workshops will cover geocaching, aquatic ecology and outdoor cooking. Park entry permit & Ages 16+ need 2016 fishing license.
