Story Safari Opens at The Durham Museum – 9/19 – 1/3
- An interactive play space that includes a 10′ x 12′ “treehouse” complete with bean bag chairs, puppets, puzzles and games all centered around the animal kingdom. Visitors will find a selection of classic animal stories in the treehouse, along with books from wildlife photographers like Nebraska’s own Thomas Mangelsen and Michael Forsberg – as well as The Durham Museum’s guest presenter Brian Skerry. Held in conjunction with the Great Plains Ecotourism Coalition Exhibition and the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibit which opens October 3, 2015.

Omaha Mini Maker Faire at the Omaha Children’s Museum – 9/19, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- The Omaha Mini Maker Faire is a family-friendly event for all ages that showcases and highlights invention, creativity and resourcefulness while celebrating the Maker Movement.

Gifford Farm Fall Festival – 9/19 – 9/20, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., $5

- Explore your creative side every week with art projects based on books and illustrations. Classes meet at South Omaha Library and are taught by professional artists and art teachers in partnership with Arts For All. For children ages 8-12.
Outdoor Movie (HOME) at the Dairy Chef, Elkhorn – 9/19, 8 p.m., FREE

AppleJack Festival in Nebraska City – 9/18 – 9/20
- With over 6 craft fairs, a parade, street dances, a classic car show, live music, and a 3-day carnival, for one weekend Nebraska City becomes the Apple Capital of the World.
- Visit Kimmel Orchard during AppleJack Festival! They will have hay rack rides running all weekend taking you to the pick your own apples, a bungee trampoline, rope making, pony rides, face painting, wood carving (Saturday only), air brush and balloon artists, live music, wine tastings, kettle corn, caramel apples, apple doughnuts, delicious BBQ items, plus SO much more in their historic Apple Barn!
