Bright Nights at Lauritzen Gardens
All aboard for holiday fun! Set a merry mood with friends and family and explore the illuminated floral display hall and the houses of the Marjorie K. Daugherty Conservatory during Bright Nights. From a 20’ tall poinsettia tree to a flock of festive flamingos, guests will see unique installations that glow and shine, showcasing nature in a new light.
This year’s theme is Holiday Express, with new lines of model garden trains chugging through the indoor gardens, full of festive foliage and fresh evergreens. Listen to the whir and whistle of the garden trains, celebrate our region’s rich railroad heritage, and enjoy this fanciful blend of botanical and mechanical - with an added splash of nostalgia!
The Family Chill Zone features a variety of fun patio games and fire pits where guests can warm up, or purchase a S’mores kit to roast marshmallows.
With 31 dates to see the garden glow, 10 family fun nights, 17 nights with Santa, and 5 nights full of holiday cheers, Bright Nights brings festive fun for everyone!

- The Christmas Bird Count is a bird count that takes place every year around the holiday season! The Christmas Bird Count has been happening since 1900, and this year you can help! Join us on a naturalist-guided bird count on the trails or boardwalk near the Nature Center. Hiking snow or shine, so make sure you come dressed for the weather! They’ll start with a brief history of the CBC, then hit the trails with a naturalist! Naturalists will lead hikes out to the Boardwalk or surrounding trails, but you can also opt to count birds inside by the bird feeders. They have binoculars available to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis, but we encourage you to bring your own!

Light Up Bellevue is proud to once again host the annual Christmas in Olde Towne Holiday Light Show at Washington Park in Bellevue. This impressive display, just east of Franklin Avenue, is the first large scale light and music display in Bellevue. The full light and music show will be on display starting on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at 6 PM through Sunday, January 5, 2025. Please turn your car radio to 91.9 FM or feel free to park and walk on the sidewalk through the display while listening to the music in the park.

Nov 29th – Black Friday Hike at Platte River State Park – 10:00-11:30am – FREE with Park Entry fee
- Instead of shopping on Black Friday, spend the day after Thanksgiving outdoors on a free, guided hike at Platte River State Park. Meet at the Waterfall Trailhead parking lot at 10 a.m. Nov. 29. A naturalist will lead the 2-mile hike, stopping to share some of his favorite fascinating finds along the way. The hike will last approximately 60 to 90 minutes and follow the Waterfall Trail, which is considered moderately challenging. Youth must be accompanied by an adult. To access the parking lot, visitors should turn left after they enter the park, then turn into the first parking lot on the right.
