A Bug’s World at the Omaha Children’s Museum – Ends 9/8
A T.Rex Named Sue at The Durham Museum – Ends 9/8
- On Saturday, September 7th, they are hosting “I am SUE day” and anyone named Sue, Susan, Suzanne or Susie, gets free admission to The Durham Museum! Be sure to bring your friends, family and a photo ID.
Play Me, I’m Yours Omaha – 8/24-9/8, FREE
- Ten street pianos will be placed throughout the Omaha area, which have been designed and decorated by local artists. Everyone is welcome visit each piano, enjoy the visual art and play a few notes!
Westroads Kids Club – 9/4, 10 a.m., FREE
- Wiz Bang Super Science Show held on the upper level, near the children’s play area.
“Fields of Flight” Hot Air Balloon Festival at Ditmar’s Orchard – 9/6-9/8, Parking: $5/car, Admission: $2/person
- One of our Favorite Fall Events! Watch balloons take flight from the wide open spaces of the apple orchard, and amazing evening balloon glows.

- Flights take off from the Orchard at 5:45 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings.
- Flights also take off at dawn or shortly thereafter on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
- Glows at dusk (approximately 7:45 p.m.) on Friday and Saturday evenings
Family Fun Saturdays at Gifford Farm – 9/7, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., $5
- September 7 – Play in the Outdoor Nature Classroom and then watch a demonstration by Raptor Recovery Nebraska
The Grass Patch Grand Opening at Omaha Children’s Museum – 9/7, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., FREE
- Celebrate the official grand opening of the Omaha Children’s Museum newest play area: the outside Grass Patch, open to the whole community. Come and enjoy music, games, face painting and more! Regular admission applies for indoor activities.
Family Farm Days at Wenninghoff’s – 9/7-9/8, 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., $2
- Bring the kids and learn about farms! A $2 per child donation is requested for the Food Bank.
- September 7th and 8th – “Amaizing” Corn…”pop” in and learn about corn. You will get to pop your corn the old fashioned way!
Touch-A-Truck – 9/7, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., S of 69th & Pacific, FREE
- Free, family event benefiting Child Saving Institute where kids, accompanied by their parents or guardian, can explore and climb on “real life” vehicles. Other activities will include face-painting, prizes, bouncy tents, food, clowns and more. Held at the First Data/UNO parking lots, just south of 69th & Pacific.
World O! Water – 9/7, 12 – 4 p.m., Chalco Hills Recreation Area, FREE
- World O! Water is aimed at educating the public about water conservation, quality and recreation. Some of the activities include: Demonstrations, Science experiments, Games, Canoeing, and Face painting.
Public Safety Appreciation Day – 9/8, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Lord of Life Lutheran Church, FREE
- Come and visit with local public safety agencies — tour the police cars, rescue squads, fire trucks, and a helicopter. A bounce house for the kids, snow cones, and lunch for all is provided — FREE.
