🎈 Fields of Flight – Hot Air Balloon Night at the Orchard 🎈

✨ Friday, September 11 – Council Bluffs scenic Ditmars Orchard & Vineyard

Get ready for a truly unforgettable evening as colorful hot air balloons rise over the apple orchard and light up the night sky! 🌅

🍎 With live music, delicious food, and breathtaking views, this is one night you won’t want to miss.

🎶 Event Highlights:

  • 6:00 PM – Balloon Flight (weather permitting)
  • 5:30–9:30 PM – Live Music by The Project Architects
  • ~7:40 PM – Balloon Glow at Dusk (weather permitting)

FAQ – All You Need to Know

🚗 Parking & Tickets:

  • $40 per car – Admission included (only ONE ticket needed per vehicle!)
  • Prepaid parking tickets available online only – limited quantity!
  • No walk-ins – carpooling encouraged.
  • Free shuttle/tram service from parking areas.
  • Non-refundable – this is a benefit for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

💳 Payments:

  • Orchard accepts Visa/MasterCard for purchases over $5.
  • No ATM on site – cash is fastest! (Some vendors may only take cash.)

🎈 Balloon Rides:

  • Spectator event only – no private or tethered rides.

🌤 Weather:

  • Balloon flights are weather dependent – pilots decide about 1 hour before launch.

✨ What’s a Balloon Glow?

  • At dusk, pilots fire up their propane burners to light the balloons while they remain on the ground – it’s magical and camera-worthy! 📸

🍔 Food & Drinks:

  • No outside food, drinks, or coolers.
  • Orchard Café favorites + food vendors (yes, apple cider doughnuts!)
  • Beer, wine, hard cider, pop, water, and apple cider available.

🐾 Pets:

  • As much as we love them, pets must stay home.

🚻 Restrooms:

  • Porta potties available (indoor restrooms closed).

🪑 What to Bring:

  • Chairs, blankets, bug spray – be comfy and prepared!

🍎 Orchard Activities:

  • U-Pick closes at 3:00 PM to allow tractors for shuttle service.
  • Apples available for purchase in the store.
  • Playground open for kids during the event.

World O! Water is a fun, annual event for all ages to learn about the important role water plays in our lives and community. Everyone is welcome to this free event including families, youth groups and scout troops, and even your dog! Join in the fun on Saturday, September 12th from 12 noon til 4 pm at Chalco Hills Recreation Area. Enjoy a free hotdog lunch while supplies last.

Plattsmouth Harvest Festival 2026

May 27, 2025

Now in its 95th year, the Plattsmouth Harvest Festival is the oldest, continuous harvest festival in Nebraska.  Fun for the whole family, the 3-day event begins with the Coronation of the new King and Queen on Thursday evening. Friday includes Bingo, Car Bash, Band & Kiddie Parade. Saturday includes Grand Parade, Bingo, Chicken Races. Lots more to see and do the first weekend after Labor Day in September on and around Plattsmouth’s Historic Main Street. Come join the fun.

54th Annual Arrows to Aerospace

May 27, 2025

The year 2026 marks the 38th year that the Bellevue-Offutt Kiwanis Club will be the proud sponsor of Arrows to Aerospace, Bellevue’s premier community celebration. It will kick off with a presentation at the Bellevue Public Library on Thursday, August 13. On Friday, August 14, they will provide a free meal at the Bellevue Community Center.

Besides featuring a parade on Saturday, August 15 at 10:00am , Washington Park will be the site of a pancake feed, a foam party (Noon-1:00pm), bounce houses, music, and a variety of both non-profit and retail vendors, paint in the park and music in the park. The parade begins at Mission Ave. and Bert Murphy, continues east on Mission, then north on Franklin, ending at Washington Park.
