Loessfest 2018 is coming this Memorial Day Weekend to the beautiful Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park, located at the foot of the Iowa side of the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge in Council Bluffs.
A fun-filled weekend of FREE events includes the Grand Opening of the Water Feature, Concerts, Movies, Fireworks and more!

Loessfest: Friday, May 25
Grand Opening of the Water Features at Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park – Friday, May 25 (5 p.m.)
- Be the first to splash around the NEW Interactive 10-foot tall water wall, a flooding wading basin, water bubblers, spray jets and an illuminated fog feature, the first of its kind in the metro area!
Disney Night Featuring Choo Choo Soul – Friday, May 25 (6 p.m.)
- Your kids will love dancing along to the music of Disney Junior’s Choo Choo Soul, featuring singer Genevieve Goings as a hip-hop train conductor and her partner, Constantine “DC” Abramson, a breakdancer and beatboxer, as her railroad engineer.
- Opening for Choo Choo Soul are Jeff and Paige, who bring science and nature to life through original, kid-delighting songs and stories.
Movie in the Park: The Incredibles – Friday, May 25 (9 p.m.)
- Get ready for Incredibles 2 this Summer by watching The Incredibles shown on the big screen immediately following Choo Choo Soul!
Loessfest: Saturday, May 26
Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons – Saturday, May 26 (7:30 p.m.)
- Sing along and dance to favorites including “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Grease,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” “Sherry” and “Walk Like a Man.”
- The park opens at 4 p.m. Heather Newman Band begins at 7:30 p.m. with Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons on the stage at 9 p.m.
Loessfest: Sunday, May 27
Bike the Bluffs – Sunday, May 27 (11 a.m.)
- Enjoy a leisurely bike ride beginning at Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park to trails through Council Bluffs and back.
Omaha Symphony – Sunday, May 27 (8 p.m.)
- Relax and enjoy the beautiful music of the Omaha Symphony!
Fireworks for Freedom – Sunday, May 27
- Following the concert, watch the skies fill with fireworks!
- App Available to Listen to the Music: Download the J&M Displays app from the Apple or Google Play store to listen to the music that is set to the fireworks! Select the Loessfest display on May 27, and the app will play the music to the fireworks at the time of the fireworks show.
Parking at Loessfest
Parking is available on both sides of the river for all Loessfest events, including the parking lot just north of Harrah’s Casino and in Harrah’s parking garage. Please note, due to construction, there will be limited parking on the east side of the levee in the old Playland Park area, just east of the Great Lawn. Find out more about parking here.
To avoid traffic delays and to reserve your spot on the Great Lawn in the park, please consider carpooling and arriving early for Loessfest events.
