Lunch & Learn – Native American Life (Adults Only)

September 30, 2025

Have you ever wondered about the ins and outs of Native Americans life on the plains? What their homes looked like? How their villages were structured? Join for a “travelling history” presentation by a speaker from the Durham Western Heritage Museum. This event is free to attend and open to everyone. Lunch will be provided, so bring a friend!

Maggot Painting | Insects and Death

Put aside your paintbrushes! Our new painting tools are live maggots! Create a unique masterpiece that will be beautiful and a good conversation starter.  

Dr. Amanda Roe, Associate Professor of Biology, will be leading this craft as well as a presentation on the importance of insects in the process of decomposition.

Open to all ages.

HalloWeeRead Preschool Carnival & Storytime

September 30, 2025

Games, activities, prizes, and storytime for toddlers, preschoolers, and their families!  Costumes and trick-or-treat bags encouraged!  Come anytime; a short storytime will start at 6:30.  No library card or registration required.

Ahoy! An Escape Room!

Can your team solve the puzzles before time runs out? Sign up to reserve your spot in the challenge.  No library card required.  For incoming Grades 2-5.  The instructions and game will take approximately 45 minutes.  Do not sign up for more than one timeslot.

Teen Central: Slime Popcorn

Saturday Craft: Wine Cork Pumpkin

Join for a Saturday craft session as we make festive fall pumpkin decorations! They’ll be using wine corks and paint to create unique pieces that will add a lovely fall touch to your kitchen or living space. 

Since supplies and space are limited, registration is required. This program is intended for adult crafters.
