Yōkai, supernatural beings and phenomena from Japanese folklore and popular culture, are at once sinister and friendly, frightening and silly, and completely captivating to the imagination. Join Omaha Public Library and a representative from the Japanese Outreach Initiative for a brief exploration of the history of Yōkai and learn how to craft your own in various Japanese art styles.

Escape the Station (21+)

Join for Escape at the Station, a unique adults-only escape room-inspired event!

  • Get locked in! Venture through Omaha’s Union Station for an immersive experience with puzzles to decode, hands-on games to solve and more
  • Enjoy signature cocktails, beer and non-alcoholic drinks from the cash bar
  • Have a chance to win great prizes
  • See the museum’s featured summer exhibition, The Animation Academy: From Pencils to Pixels, without the kids!

Each ticketholder receives entry to the event, one drink ticket for an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage and a game packet. Guests will also enjoy a complementary popcorn bar with additional food and ice cream treats available for purchase at our old-fashioned Soda Fountain.

Late Nights at the Zoo (21+)

New this year, Late Nights at the Zoo features Zoo-tique, a vendor market showcasing local makers. Music bingo also returns every night. Plus, enjoy special appearances by Ambassador Animals and a weekly species spotlight to learn about conservation efforts and the Zoo’s resident animals from knowledgeable staff.

Limited Availability: Aquarium Backstage Experience

Enhance your evening with the new Backstage Experience add-on, offering a behind-the-scenes tour of the Suzanne and Walter Scott Aquarium. This exclusive experience provides insights into the aquarium’s operations and marine life care.

Cost is $75 per person. Availability is limited each night, so early booking is recommended. Tickets are nonrefundable and cancellations will only be made by Omaha Zoo Education.

Neighborhood Walking Tour

Gather a group of friends or family members to explore the Washington Branch and neighborhood! Stop by the Washington Branch to pick up a zine detailing ten locations to explore. You’ll have four hours to see as many of the sights as you can before heading back to the library for a prize! All groups will begin and end at Washington.
