OIPA Innovation District Community Workshop
The Omaha Inland Port Authority (OIPA) invites residents, business owners, and community members to take part in shaping the vision for the North Omaha Innovation District Plan. The workshop will take place Thursday, August 7th, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Metropolitan Community College’s Fort Omaha Campus, inside the Swanson Conference Center at the Institute for the Culinary Arts (5300 N. 30th Street, Omaha). A presentation will be given at 6:15 p.m.
During this hands-on workshop, the public will collaborate with the project team to explore ideas for physical spaces, programs and services that reflect community culture and needs, and policies that promote inclusive growth without displacement.

The Championship Chase Escape Room
Ready to play ball? Join Omaha Public Library for a sports-themed adventure! You will be “locked” in a room, and in order to escape in time, you will need to solve various sports-related puzzles and clues before your time is up.
This escape room is for adults, ages 19+.

Join Omaha Public Library and a representative from the Japanese Outreach Initiative for a brief exploration of the history of Yōkai and learn how to craft your own in various Japanese art styles.
This is a free event for adults 19+.

New this year, Late Nights at the Zoo features Zoo-tique, a vendor market showcasing local makers. Music bingo also returns every night. Plus, enjoy special appearances by Ambassador Animals and a weekly species spotlight to learn about conservation efforts and the Zoo’s resident animals from knowledgeable staff.
Limited Availability: Aquarium Backstage Experience
Enhance your evening with the new Backstage Experience add-on, offering a behind-the-scenes tour of the Suzanne and Walter Scott Aquarium. This exclusive experience provides insights into the aquarium’s operations and marine life care.
Cost is $75 per person. Availability is limited each night, so early booking is recommended. Tickets are nonrefundable and cancellations will only be made by Omaha Zoo Education.

Neighborhood Walking Tour
Gather a group of friends or family members to explore the Washington Branch and neighborhood! Stop by the Washington Branch to pick up a zine detailing ten locations to explore. You’ll have four hours to see as many of the sights as you can before heading back to the library for a prize! All groups will begin and end at Washington.
This is a free event for adults 19+.
Neighborhood Walking Tour
Gather a group of friends or family members to explore the Downtown Library and neighborhood! Each group will be looking for 10 landmarks in the Omaha downtown area. You’ll have two hours to see as many of the sights as you can before heading back to the library for a prize! All teams will begin and end at Downtown Branch.

Science of Superheroes: The Origins and Power of Superman
Join OPL and Dan Claes, professor of physics and astronomy at UNL, for a presentation on the science of superheroes. In this discussion, we will be featuring the origins and powers of Superman as part of a celebration of Free Comic Book Day. Don’t forget to grab your free comic book while supplies last.
