Storybook Science: Monsters

Creepy, silly, or downright SCARY, monsters come in all shapes and sizes. From lovable, furry monsters like Grover to big, ferocious monsters like Gabe, there’s a monster story for everyone! But are monsters real or just pretend? Join for Storybook Science to find out!

Curiosity Crew: Pumpkin Pillars

Curiosity Crew is a hands-on STEM class for children under the age of six! Each month we cover a science topic and complete an activity or art project associated with that concept. This month, we’re learning about gravity, weight, and how to construct a stable tower. After the lesson, kiddos will have a chance to build a tower that can support the weight of a small pumpkin. 

This is a free event for ages 2-6. Registration is required

Spooky Science – Exploding Ghosts

It’s time for another EXPLOSIVE activity at the library! Join us as we create a safe exploding specter that you can take home! The only question? Can ghosts really explode? Come to the library to find out!

Teen Murder Mystery

Teens in grades 6–12 are invited to our Murder Mystery Party on Friday, October 16, from 5:30–7:30 PM at the library!

Grab your friends and get ready for a night of clues, secrets, suspects, and mystery. Work together to crack the case before the night is over. You can come with a group or join the fun on your own! Either way, you’ll have a chance to put your detective skills to the test!

Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble… Something is brewing at this week’s Storybook Science. Potions can do everything from changing the color of your hair to giving you incredible luck. Is there such a thing as a magic potion in real life? Join us for Storybook Science to find out!

Stories After Dark: Scary Stories (Adults)

Join OPL for a fun storytelling event for adults! Experience compelling narratives and diverse perspectives in a vibrant atmosphere. The West entrance doors open at 6:45 p.m. for refreshments and mingling.

Spine-chilling tales are lurking around every corner—have you ever had a moment that made your heart race or your imagination run wild? Whether it’s a ghost story, a creepy coincidence, or something that gave you goosebumps, we want to hear your scariest story!

Prepare a 5-8 minute story about a personal or fictional experience and come share with the crowd. All participants will be awarded a superlative award!

Not ready for the stage? We need audience members to cheer on our storytellers.

Storyteller Ground Rules:

  • Follow the theme: Scary Stories
  • Stories must be based on life.
  • Stories should not exceed 8 minutes.
  • Visual aides and artifacts encouraged.
