Library Field Trip: Gretna Fire Station #1

Learn about the fire station, emergency vehicles, and fire safety at the Gretna fire station at 21825 Capehart Rd. All preschool and homeschool families are invited.  No library card or registration required.

Maggot Painting | Insects and Death

Put aside your paintbrushes! Our new painting tools are live maggots! Create a unique masterpiece that will be beautiful and a good conversation starter.  

Dr. Amanda Roe, Associate Professor of Biology, will be leading this craft as well as a presentation on the importance of insects in the process of decomposition.

Open to all ages.

Ahoy! An Escape Room!

Can your team solve the puzzles before time runs out? Sign up to reserve your spot in the challenge.  No library card required.  For incoming Grades 2-5.  The instructions and game will take approximately 45 minutes.  Do not sign up for more than one timeslot.

Saturday Craft: Wine Cork Pumpkin

Join for a Saturday craft session as we make festive fall pumpkin decorations! They’ll be using wine corks and paint to create unique pieces that will add a lovely fall touch to your kitchen or living space. 

Since supplies and space are limited, registration is required. This program is intended for adult crafters.

How well do you know your sweets?  Participants will identify candies in a blindfold taste test.
