This summer, step into the magic of Disney and discover the iconic looks of some of your favorite Disney characters in an enchanting, up-close experience for all ages. Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume is a showcase of nearly 70 mesmerizing ensembles spanning close to five decades of Disney film and television.
Dinosaurs Around the World: Passport to Pangea
Step into a prehistoric adventure at Lauritzen Gardens with Dinosaurs Around the World: Passport to Pangea, on view May 30 through September 7, 2026. Produced by Imagine, this immersive traveling exhibition transforms the garden into a journey across ancient Earth, where life-sized animatronic dinosaurs roar, move, and captivate visitors of all ages.

38th Annual John C. Fremont Days
The John C. Fremont Days festival is an award winning three day celebration of Fremont, held the second full weekend of July each year. This family oriented citywide festival began in 1987 and has events throughout the City of Fremont with something for everyone!

Forever Young Film Series: Turning Red
Academy Award® winner Domee Shi (Pixar short Bao) took her experiences of growing up a Chinese Canadian with immigrant parents and turned it into a fun, stylized film that explores often untouched territory for animated films. With the film, she hoped that “kids who watch it, parents too, feel empowered to take up space, to be big and loud, to let their inner red pandas out and to be proud of all the things that make them different.”

Join for an interactive look into the world of wildlife rehabilitation with our friends from Nebraska Wildlife Rehab. Learn what the team at NWR does, what it takes to become a wildlife rehabilitator, and how animals end up needing care in the first place. Explore each step of the rehabilitation journey—from intake and treatment to release back into the wild. This month they are making sew-free pillows! Kids will create their own cozy pillows using fleece and simple tying techniques. Kids will leave with their own personalized pillow to take home! All necessary materials will be provided. This activity is suitable for ages 8+. Space is limited. Registration is required.

Give your favorite stories some sparkle! In this creative program use colorful gems and rhinestones to decorate dazzling book covers. Add a little shimmer and personality to your books while exploring your artistic side. Feel free to bring your own book or use one of ours! All supplies are provided, just bring your imagination! This month we are at The Dock at Millwork Commons—a community corridor for public events. Neighboring food venues may be closed during the event, so you are welcome to bring your own food and drink. Get ready to soak up the sun and feel the rhythm at the Summer Vibes Concert Series, your weekly dose of live music, good vibes, and unforgettable summer nights! Movie Night at Highlander: Goat
Movie Nights are a cherished tradition in the Highlander neighborhood, held on the lawn of the Highlander Accelerator. Everyone is welcome to this outdoor cinematic experience. This free event presents a family-friendly film suitable for all ages. Bring your blankets, chairs, and snacks for a cozy night. Free treats for the first 100 guests! (And available for purchase for additional guests) Lawn opens at 8, movie starts at sunset.
Classics With a Cause Series: Shrek
Each week, Quasar pairs up a local business with a local charitable cause, to present a “Classic” retro title for a “Free-to-the-Public ” event to raise awareness and support. This is a great way for your organization to educate and interact with an eager audience. Solicitation of free-will donations or mission-specific item donations can be part of pre-event, advertising co-op.

Stomp and Shake Storytime
Get ready for a roaring good time! In this hands-on musical experience inspired by Dinosaurumpus!, kids become the musicians as they explore the many ways percussion instruments make sound—shaking, scraping, and striking along with the story. Guided by a staff member from the Omaha Symphony, young participants will stomp, chomp, and make music together while discovering how rhythm brings this dino-filled tale to life.

Moonlight Movies: The Goonies (1985)
Join on the second and fourth Fridays of June and July for free outdoor movies on the big screen. Yard games and movie-themed activities begin at 7:30 p.m. Blankets, chairs, and picnics are encouraged. Each movie will have a food truck on site serving treats for purchase. Celebrate Halloween in the summer! This themed event features The Goonies (1985) movie, orange decorating, candy giveaways and s’mores for spooky-fun memories. Movie is PG.

Heartwood Kids Club
Saturday mornings belong to the kids. Heartwood Kids Club is a free weekly program filled with hands-on fun designed especially for children ages 4–8. Activities can include crafts, demonstrations, creative projects or interactive experiences each week brings a new surprise. Kids must be accompanied by an adult, so the whole family can enjoy a playful start to the weekend together. Happening every Saturday morning June 13th through September.
Kiddie Craft
Let your little one’s imagination run wild! Kiddie Craft is a hands-on, creative program designed for children to explore colors, textures, and simple craft techniques in a fun and supportive environment. Join us as we use the fun of bubbles to create your own art masterpiece! Grown-ups are welcome to craft alongside their kids or relax nearby. It’s the perfect way to spark a lifelong love of art and play! Ages: 0 - 11
Art In the Park: Picture Perfect Summer: Mini Polaroids Workshop
In this workshop you will create your own mini polaroid using drawing paper, a template, and a variety of other materials to fill in the blank space. There will be images available for you to trace and color in, you can cut and collage a scene or you are welcome to draw a picture all of your own! The possibilities are endless with a little inspiration and imagination. No matter how you choose to fill your mini polaroid, you will love taking home one of these adorable handmade creations. All Materials Provided. All Ages. Location: RiverFront Park at the Arrival Plaza outside of Kiewit Luminarium.

Puzzle Competition – Adults
Compete against other teams to complete the same puzzle in the fastest amount of time. All teams will be provided with a puzzle and will have two hours to finish the challenge. The first team to complete the puzzle wins! Space is limited, and registration is required.
Puzzle Race
Compete in teams to finish a 500-piece puzzle in 2 hours or less! Register your team of 2-4 people or as an individual looking to join another team. Registration open today online or in person by dropping by either library and speaking with a librarian. Check out Puzzle Swap happening at the same time. Bring a puzzle (or two) to leave, take a new puzzle (or two!) back home with you! No registration required.
Hydrant Party
Beat the heat at our summer Hydrant Parties! La Vista Recreation is partnering with the Papillion Fire Department to offer Hydrant Parties at various locations across the city. Kids can cool off, run wild, enjoy popsicles, and make a splash as the hydrant sprays water high into the air for nonstop summer fun.
“The Joy of Painting” Paint-Along
Calling all aspiring artists and Bob Ross fans! Join Omaha Public Library and a Certified Ross Instructor to enjoy the joy of painting by learning to create a desert scene in Ross’s classic style. Flix at the Chef: Zootopia 2
Come enjoy a summer movie under the stars at Flix at the Chef—free outdoor movie nights that Relevant puts on for our city behind Dairy Chef in Elkhorn. Bring your blankets, chairs, family and friends and enjoy the movie “Zootopia 2” on Saturday, on July 11. Free popcorn and water will be provided. Food, drinks, and ice cream will be for sale at Dairy Chef as well. All movies begin at dusk.
