Welcome to Mission: Astronaut, a hands-on experience where visitors learn about space exploration, the technology that makes it possible, how it benefits life on Earth, and more through astronaut training challenges. Each section presents interactive tasks that require an astronaut’s mindset to solve and focus on engineering, physics, teamwork, and fun!
Waitress at Omaha Community Playhouse
Tony Award®-nominated musical Waitress offers a unique recipe for finding happiness in unexpected places. Jenna, an adept pie maker and waitress at the local diner, finds herself trapped in a small town and an unfulfilling marriage. Faced with an unplanned pregnancy, Jenna worries that her dream of opening her own pie shop may slip away. Cat Kid Comic Club: The Musical
Cat Kid and Molly Pollywog have started an epic club to teach 21 rambunctious baby frogs how to make their own comics! Their fishy father Flippy is overjoyed that his kids will learn to unleash their creativity, but when the frogs’ constant bickering and outrageous imaginations send their comics comically off the rails, Flippy flips out! Will the club survive? Will the frogs ever get along? And will creativity finally save the day? All will be answered in this madcap musical based on Dav Pilkey’s irreverently hilarious Dog Man spin-off series, Cat Kid Comic Club.

Today there will be a special guests from Keep Omaha Beautiful who will read Ruby’s Birds by Mya Thompson. Just as Ruby learns to identify the birds in her neighborhood, we will also learn to observe specific features in order to identify common backyard Nebraska birds. They will make a tool to help us on our birdwatching adventures and conclude with a bird watching expedition outside.

At Puzzlepalooza, you'll have the opportunity to test your speed, precision, and teamwork as you race against the clock and other teams to finish. Check in between 5:30-6:30pm, then promptly at 6:30pm every team checked in will open their same 500 piece puzzle. Each team will have 3 hours to successfully finish their puzzle, but only the first 3 teams to successfully get their puzzle put together will win the prizes!
Haunted Iowa: Paranormal Explained
If you are interested in ghosts, ghost hunting, or the paranormal that surrounds Iowa, you won't want to miss this event! A Good Oak: Introduction to “A Land Ethic Workshop”
This session is free for all attendees and is intended for participants aged 14 and older with an interest in the natural world. Kick off our 2025 season (and 8th year!) of "A Land Ethic Workshop." This free, introductory session will be held at Hitchcock Nature Center and is perfect for anyone with an interest in conservation and a desire to develop a better understanding of the natural world outside their own front door. Join us and celebrated educator Ron Cisar as we introduce participants to our 10-month-long programming series, "A Land Ethic Workshop".

10AM-Noon: Engage in cool dino experiments with Dinosaur Ranger Anthony from Stomp Chomp Roar. 1PM: Join a special tour of Antarctic Dinosaurs full of fun dino facts. Plus, enjoy crafts and games throughout the day. This drop-in activity is included in regular museum admission; FREE for members
Forever Young Film Series: WALL-E
WALL-E 2008 Film. It’s the twenty-ninth century, and humans have long since fled Earth for outer space, leaving WALL-E, the last functioning trash-compacting robot, to go about the work of cleaning up a pollution-choked planet, one piece of garbage at a time. When he meets EVE, a fellow automaton sent to detect plant life, the pair are launched on an intergalactic quest to return humanity to Earth.
Fly-Tying for Beginners
Fly-tying is the art of attaching materials such as feathers, thread, metal, beads and more to a hook, with the aim of imitating an insect or small prey. Fly tying is a great way to add to your tackle box, express creativity and to have another excuse to go fishing.
You’ll work with the Cornhusker Fly-Fishers as you make a fly of your own to take home. Stop in anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22 to give a fly a try! This event is free and open to the public.

Indoor Winter Farmer’s Market
Exciting News for Omaha Shoppers! The Omaha Winter Market is expanding to better serve our community. With spring on the horizon, now is the time to start planting! Join Omaha Public Library to learn how to care for, plant, and propagate edible plants in containers from an Omaha Master Gardener. Participants will be given a pot, soil, and seeds to take home. This is a free event for adults 19+. All materials are provided while supplies last.

Flappers & Fizz (21-and-over event)
Don your glad rags and get ready to drink some giggle water. You’re invited to a night of flappers, champagne and art deco as Flappers & Fizz returns to The Durham Museum on Saturday, February 22, 2025, 7-10PM! Each ticket receives entry to the event, light hors d'oeuvres, one drink ticket and a mystery game packet. So grab that flapper dress and your dancing shoes, this night is going to be the bee’s knees! Must be 21 or older to attend.
