Maggot Painting | Insects and Death
Put aside your paintbrushes! Our new painting tools are live maggots! Create a unique masterpiece that will be beautiful and a good conversation starter. Dr. Amanda Roe, Associate Professor of Biology, will be leading this craft as well as a presentation on the importance of insects in the process of decomposition. Open to all ages.
Day of the Dead Crafts (Adults Only)
Decorate your own sugar skull ornament for the Day of the Dead and learn how to make tissue paper marigolds!

Toddler Tuesday: Fall Fun!
The leaves are falling and we couldn't be happier! Come and enjoy a fall-themed storytime, a cute craft activity, and of course, plenty of candy corn. (Admit it, you love the stuff.) Let's make like Humpty Dumpty and have a great fall!
Gouge a Gourd at Mahoney State Park
Do pumpkin guts drive you nuts? Check out your pumpkin target precision as you learn how to use the primitive spear throwing device called an atlatl at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park. Who needs foam targets when we’ve got fall pumpkins? Meet behind the Bur Oak Shelter. This activity is free and open to anyone age six or older. A valid Nebraska state park vehicle permit is required for park entry.
Design It: 4-wheeled Vehicle
Design a vehicle big enough for 6" dolls/action figures to ride in.

HawkWatch Appreciation Days
This season marks the 34th year of Hitchcock HawkWatch, and you're invited to learn more about their important conservation work! Swing by the Loess Hills Lodge gallery from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. any Saturday in October to learn more about what their research is uncovering in our gallery displays, enjoy refreshments including lemonade and cookies, and see what raptors are passing through atop the park's 45-foot observation tower.
Spooky Glow Painting
Come and create a spooky canvas that glows! You’ll be given a black canvas to decorate using phosphorescent paint and stencils. Your final creation will glow-in-the-dark! Paint your canvas as you share about your own paranormal experiences or listen as staff share a spooky story. This is a free event for kids 8-12. All supplies are included and are while supplies last. Registration is required

Ahoy! An Escape Room!
Can your team solve the puzzles before time runs out? Sign up to reserve your spot in the challenge. No library card required. For incoming Grades 2-5. The instructions and game will take approximately 45 minutes. Do not sign up for more than one timeslot.

Make deliciously ghoulish popcorn balls with marshmallow and Jello! This event is open to patrons in the 6th-12th grades while supplies last.
Laser-cut Bigfoot & costumes (Adults Only)
Make a Bigfoot silhouette and paper-doll style costumes to put on him.
