Learn to paint the beautiful Nebraska native pollinator flowers that are sprinkled throughout the RiverFront park. While painting you will learn basic water techniques such as: controlling water (wet on wet, wet on dry), blending, and how to paint from observation. Join at the library for WhyArts Kids on the Block, an engaging educational puppet program designed for children in grades K–4. Balloons launch Friday and Saturday Evening 7 PM. Gates open at 5:00 pm to give spectators an early glimpse at the hot air balloons as pilots assemble them for their flights.

Take in the beauty of the annual Perseid Meteor Shower and explore the wonders to be found in the night sky at Crescent Hill at Hitchcock! On Friday, August 14th, the park will stay open until midnight so visitors can view the night sky away from city lights. Visitors are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, binoculars, and telescopes to view nature's fireworks from the ski hill area and the park's trail system. The Omaha Astronomical Society will be present with telescopes to help you get a close-up look at celestial bodies.
