Summer Melodramas at Mahoney

Popcorn Productions, LLC and Eugene T. Mahoney State Park present three melodramas this summer: “Peril of the Storm,” “Baron’s Revenge” and “Troll of Trafalgar.” Performances take place at the Denman and Mary Mallory Kountze Memorial Theatre inside the park. For tickets, call (402) 944-2957.

Synopsis: “Peril of the Storm,” by D. Chapelle
Wally Wessel was once an inept small town mayor who grew up to be a totally inept governor! On a dark and stormy night Governor Wally Wessel and his bodyguard, Trooper Duper take refuge at Moldmaster Manor, a spooky old house inhabited by wealthy Mordred Moldmaster, his daughter Amberleigh, Mordred’s evil brother Cringe and Cringe’s scheming wife Ophelia. The governor and Trooper Duper are seeking shelter from a deadly storm but are unaware that they are in more danger within than without. Mordred has disinherited Cringe and Ophelia, leaving all of his vast fortune to daughter Amberleigh. Cringe and his wife Ophelia will do anything, yes anything, to gain control of the estate, including disposing of the Governor, Mordred, Amberleigh, Duper or anybody else foolish enough to stand in their way!

“Baron’s Revenge,” by D. Chapelle
The great great great grand-nephew of the infamous Doctor Frankenstein has grown tired of his colleagues and the scornful public at large. In his insane desire for revenge, and with the assistance of his evil assistant Rogi, he has stitched together a new monster, one who will wreak Frankenstein’s vengeance upon the world. Will Frankenstein’s beautiful financee, Emma Wright become entangled in the evil? Will the law of the land, Constable Von Constable, be able to stop the doctor before the monster is unleashed? There is only one person who is strong enough (or handsome enough) to thwart… The Baron’s revenge!!!

“Troll of Trafalgar,” by D. Chapelle
A priceless artifact known as the golden Troll of Trafalgar has been lost for over one hundred years. The previous rumored owners have all fallen victim to horrible ends. Now the Troll has fallen into the unsuspecting hands of Michelle McGee, the demure niece of the notorious horrible gangster Shorty McGee. Spooked by a notorious gangster, horrible Harry Rattbender is after the statue and will stop at nothing to steal it away. Michelle’s aunt Minnie is beside herself and no one but even she can be tempted by the untold wealth the Troll would bring. Is handyman Billy there to fix what is broken, or fix him up for a life of leisure? Can the dashing archaeologist Dr. Dashiell Diamond save the girl from the clutches of the greed surrounding her or will The Troll of Trafalgar claim another victim?
