OPL Summer Reading Program: Color Our World
Program Details
Babies’ & Toddlers’, Kids’ & Teens’ Program
Receive two free books when you register!
Complete any combination of 10 activities or reading/listening hours to receive a(n):
- Sticky hand or Smencil
- Voucher for a book from the Friends of Omaha Public Library book sale
- Omaha Storm Chasers ticket voucher (for an 8/13 or 8/17 game)
- Chance to win additional prizes
Pick up a Summer Reading Program Babies & Toddlers, Kids or Teens tracker at any branch to mark your progress. Color a section of the pathway each time you complete an activity or 1 hour of reading/listening (sections are subdivided into 20-minute increments). Bring your completed tracker to the help desk at any OPL location to receive your prize.
- Read 5 books together.
- Get a “Reading to Your Baby” or a “Reading to your Child” bookmark.
- Attend a Music & Movement or Baby Storytime.
- Sing a song together.
- Check out a board book or picture book.
- Sign up your baby/toddler for a library card.
- Attend a library program.
- Listen to an audiobook or read-along book.
- Read a book and write a letter to one of the characters.
- Recommend a book to a library staff member.
- Visit a library branch that is new to you.
- Read a book from the TumbleBook Library at omahalibrary.org/resource.
- Write or learn a poem, story or song.
- Read to a pet or stuffed animal.
- Draw a picture of your favorite scene or character in a book.
- Read outside.
- Attend a library program.
- Listen to an audiobook.
- Join OPL’s Teen Discord channel.
- Recommend a book to a library staff member.
- Check out a book from a display at your local branch.
- Post on social media about a book you read and tag @omahalibrary and/or the author.
- Write a poem, story or song.
- Find the teen page on OPL’s website at omahalibrary.org/teens.
- Draw a picture of your favorite scene or character in a book.
- Read a story on a fan fiction site.
Adults’ Program
Receive a voucher for a free book from the Friends of Omaha Public Library book sale when you register!
Pick up a Summer Reading Program Adults tracker at any branch to mark your progress. Color a section of the pathway each time you complete an activity or 1 hour of reading/listening (sections are subdivided into 20-minute increments). Complete any combination of 10 activities or reading/listening hours for the chance to win additional prizes.
Prizes available beginning June 1, while supplies last.
- Attend a library program.
- Listen to an audiobook.
- Read a book and watch the movie it’s based on.
- Recommend a book to a library staff member.
- Visit a library branch that is new to you.
- Post on social media about a book you read and tag @omahalibrary and/or the author.
- Start OPL’s 2024 Reading Challenge if you haven’t already.
- Find the Staff Picks book lists at the bottom of OPL’s homepage at omahalibrary.org.
- Find the book sale at your local branch or visit the Friends of OPL Book Sale at W. Clarke Swanson Branch.
