Look to the skies at Heartwood’s 2nd Annual Kite Festival. Giant show kites flown by professional kite artists will fill the air above the amphitheater in a breathtaking display of color and motion. Guests can learn kite-flying techniques, bring or purchase their own kites, or simply relax and watch the sky come alive. Festival foods and family activities make it a perfect day outdoors.

Looking for a fun fall tradition for the whole family? Trunk or Treat is coming to King of Kings Northwest on October 18 from 4–6PM. Bring the whole crew for trick-or-treating, costumes, creatively decorated trunks, candy, games, bounce houses, and more. Every attendee can enter the giveaway and vote for their favorite trunk. This free community event takes place at King of Kings Northwest, located at 156th and Fort.

Children are invited to listen to a tail-wagging read-aloud about pet adoption, then choose from a variety of different animal plushies to "adopt" and take home. Each animal plushie comes with the option to create a collar and special house along with the completion of an adoption certificate. With over 352,000 emigrants traveling the Oregon, Mormon or California trails, one in five were under the age of 16. Many of these youth kept journals. Renae Hunt from Humanities Nebraska will discuss how these children traveled and relate some of the stories from their journals. This is a free event for patrons of all ages. Registration is encouraged but not required.

GPS Bank will be hosting a free Trunk or Treat for the community on Thurs Oct 22nd at their Omaha location, 17041 Lakeside Hills Plaza, 68130. Activities will include a Toy Story Bounce House, hot dogs (while supplies last), and trick-or-treating. Then decorate it with paint markers, bright colored papers and little details to finish your design. Note the date so fall themes are encouraged. Baseballoween returns to Werner Park for the 15th straight year! As usual, the event is free and family-friendly, as the Werner Park gates open for the Omaha Metro to celebrate a fun-filled night at the stadium!! The event will feature trick-or-treating, activity stations, and a family-friendly movie on the videoboard! They will be collecting donations for Food Bank for the Heartland upon entry to Baseballoween. Donations are encouraged but not mandatory.

This aerospace-themed program will be presented by the 99th Squadron Civil Air Patrol. Children in grades 1–5 will explore the basics of flight and aerodynamics as they design, build, and test their own paper airplanes. Registration is required for this special event.

Explore repujado, the traditional art of metal embossing, in this hands-on workshop led by visiting artist, Linda Garcia. Participants will learn how to create beautiful raised designs on soft metal using simple tools and techniques and create their own unique piece to take home. This is a free event for teens 13-18. Inconceivable! The Dread Pirate Roberts is in trouble, and true love hangs in the balance. Gather your wits to solve clues and puzzles inspired by "The Princess Bride" by William Goldman. Participating businesses will each have a 10x10 space for a table and tent, and vendors are encouraged to get creative with decorated booths and activities or games for kids.
