Janie York from Humanities Nebraska will explore the role our founding mothers played in the American Revolution. Women of the time used their cunning, creativity, and skills with the needle to craft a story of how they supported the military. You’ll meet activists, impersonators, and seamstresses who supported the war effort and in some cases changed its trajectory.

Bring a blanket to the park and join us for 30 minutes of dancing fun with Miss Abbey from Motion Works Dance. Most appropriate for kids ages 5 and under and an adult companion. In the event of inclement weather this program will be moved to the Library.

Something went wrong on a paleontology dig, and your team has been transported back to the age of the dinosaurs! You’ll need to work together to solve clues and puzzles hidden in the cave and your field gear to activate the portal device and “return home”. Can you escape the prehistoric world or will you be stuck with the dinosaurs forever? Registration is required.

Give your favorite stories some sparkle! In this creative program use colorful gems and rhinestones to decorate dazzling book covers. Our friends from Omaha Children's Museum are back! We'll explore what happens to molecules when they're put to the test, in this show all about chemical reactions.

This month they are making sew-free pillows! Kids will create their own cozy pillows using fleece and simple tying techniques. Kids will leave with their own personalized pillow to take home! In this hands-on musical experience inspired by Dinosaurumpus!, kids become the musicians as they explore the many ways percussion instruments make sound—shaking, scraping, and striking along with the story. Every great adventure needs two things: a hero to save the day and a villain with a clever plan. In this action-packed writing workshop, young writers will invent their own unforgettable heroes and devious villains -- complete with superpowers, weaknesses, secret hideouts, and big personalities. Once the characters are created, students will put them to the test by writing an exciting adventure story where the hero must face the villain's plan. By the end of the class, each student will have the beginning of their own heroic tale! This is a free event for children ages 8-12. Registration is required

Soccer Shots is bringing the fun to The RiverFront with a free, 30 minute soccer experience for children ages 2 to 5. Kids will run, play, and explore through exciting games while building confidence and learning basic soccer skills in a fun, positive, and energetic environment. 

Join for another night of live music at the Texas Roadhouse Amphitheater! Bring a blanket or a chair and enjoy a relaxed summer evening outdoors.

Join on the second and fourth Fridays of June and July for free outdoor movies on the big screen. Carter Lake’s Annual Parade & Festival on July 25th for a full day of fun, community, and celebration! The parade kicks off at 11 AM, followed by the festival, kids zone, and vendor fair starting at 12 PM. Enjoy the beer garden at 1 PM, live music at 4 PM, and end the night with fireworks at 10 PM.

In celebration of National Moth Week (July 18-26), educators Nebraska Game and Parks will lead moth lighting at Schramm Park State Recreation Area. Bring a flashlight, search for moths at the light trap, document the species you find and learn about moths and other nocturnal insects in Nebraska. This is a FREE program that will be held at the park shelter next to Pond A. We will meet in the parking lot of the Schramm Education Center at 8:30 p.m. and walk about five minutes along a paved, flat trail to the park shelter. If you have a state park vehicle permit, you can park next to the park shelter.
