They’ve wandered the world, and now they’re headed to Omaha! TROLLS: Save the Humans, an outdoor exhibit by acclaimed artist Thomas Dambo, open through May 18, 2026 at Lauritzen Gardens. Crafted from reclaimed wood and full of wild wisdom, these six towering trolls are on a mission to help humans rediscover their connection to nature. Canoeing on the Lake
Grab your family and friends for a fun afternoon of canoeing on the lake! Includes instruction and all equipment for a safe and fun canoeing adventure! Participants must be at least 6 years and older and at least one adult is required for each canoe. $25/canoe (max 4 people). Register for a one-hour time slot: 1pm, 2pm, 3pm.
Science Sunday: Seed Balls
Join the Nebraska Science Festival for Science Sunday from 1-2pm in April at the Omaha RiverFront by the slides. This is a free family friendly hour for you to learn about nature, astronomy, chemistry, medicine and more with hands-on science activities (while supplies last).

Experience the magic of the Amazon Rainforest through music and dance in this unforgettable collaboration between the Omaha Symphony and the Heartland Youth Ballet. Featuring a never-before-heard orchestral score by composer Matt Naughtin, this performance invites you to explore the lush beauty and captivating mystery of one of the world's most diverse ecosystems.
Journey up the majestic kapok tree and meet an array of vibrant rainforest creatures — ocelots, snakes, frogs, monkeys, birds, insects, and bats — brought to life through stunning choreography and evocative music. Perfect for all ages, this unique experience celebrates the wonders of nature and the artistry of music and dance. An ASL interpreter will be present at this performance. Lobby activities start at 1:15.

Local sewist Alejandra will introduce us to the basics of sewing, hemming, and upgrading clothes to give them new life. This series is open to beginner & advanced sewists who want to try a new project, meet other enthusiasts, and share project ideas. Bring your own machine or use a library machine. Art in the Park: Cardboard Creations – Butterflies & Flowers
In this workshop you will learn how to make butterflies out of cardboard tubes and flowers out of cardboard egg cartons. I will guide you through the steps on how to fold, cut and glue until your butterflies emerge and your flowers bloom into reality. You can then use markers to decorate and design your cardboard creations. When you are all done you can glue on a magnet or mini clothes pin so you can display your creation as you please. Location: Arrival Plaza at The RiverFront Park. The workshop will take place near the entrance of the Kiewit Luminarium

Stories in Stone: A Bohemian Cemetery Exploration Tour
OPL invites you to explore the city’s rich history within the sacred grounds of Bohemian Cemetery — one of Omaha’s historic cemeteries. Following a brief talk about the significance and history of Bohemian Cemetery, participants will have the opportunity to uncover stories in plain sight.
Mystery Spice
Let’s find out! Participants will smell various spices in their native state and then attempt to identify each spice by smelling the oil of the spice, which has a high concentration of the scent molecules. The structure of the scent chemicals impacts how our neurons detect its scent, and models will be available so participants can connect the microscopic molecular structures to the macroscopic scents.

Amphibians of Nebraska Class
Learn about the many amphibians that call Nebraska home in a lecture-style presentation in the Schramm Education Center Classroom and view live examples of many of Nebraska's frog, toad, and salamander species. Then, with the supervision of a professional scientist, learn and practice catching and identifying frogs outdoors at a pond. Register in Advance
A Japanese Fable: Monkey and Crab
Join for a special presentation of A Japanese Fable: Monkey and Crab told by Dr. Sharon Ishii-Jordan! Dr. Ishii-Jordan will not only read the beautifully illustrated book but will also teach children a few simple Japanese words along the way. Through lively storytelling, participants will learn new vocabulary, practice pronunciation, and discover how language brings stories to life. This event is best suited for kids ages 6-10.

Spring Cocktail Party
Enjoy a sip of spring at the 5th Annual Spring Cocktail Party! Each participating establishment is offering a signature spring cocktail sure to delight your tastebuds. Visit as many neighborhood establishments (all within walking distance of each other!) as you like, in any order you like, and cast your vote for the best cocktail in midtown! Food pairings and full menus also available. Sign the Rail! In between cocktails, take a moment to sign a rail section to be installed on the Omaha Streetcar line.
Kentucky Derby Party
They’re turning Main Street into the ultimate outdoor party—complete with a large-screen viewing of the Kentucky Derby, and plenty of ways to celebrate with friends, family, and the community!
Japanese Dance
Join for culture, storytelling, and community with The Japanese American Citizens League-Omaha Chapter (JACL). The JACL Dance Troupe will perform multiple dances that honor Japanese dance culture. At the end of the presentation, the dancers will teach audience members “Bon-Odori,” a traditional dance used in community gatherings to honor and memorialize ancestors.
Stinson Park Concert Series: Simplicated

A Galactic Night Out: May the Pours Be With You (21+)
Step into the museum after hours for an evening where the hangar transforms into a lively galactic cantina. On May 2 from 7:00 to 11:00 PM, adults ages 21 and over are invited to celebrate the closing stretch of our Unofficial Galaxies exhibit with a night filled with music, competition, and just the right amount of friendly chaos from across the galaxy. Throughout the night, guests can test their skills, show off their creativity, and enjoy a relaxed evening surrounded by legendary aircraft and unforgettable sci-fi inspiration. Grab a drink, explore the museum after dark, and jump into activities happening throughout the hangar as the force of fun takes over the building.
Frog & Toad Call Identification
Learn to identify Nebraska amphibians by their calls through a quick classroom presentation followed by a walk down to the park (roughly 1 mile round trip) to hear frogs calling. We recommend bringing a head lamp or flashlight.
