Winterland Ice Skating at Heartwood Preserve
Family-friendly ice rink offers a magical experience for skaters of all ages, nestled in the scenic beauty of Heartwood Preserve. Whether you're a seasoned skater or stepping on to the ice for the first time, their ice rink is the perfect place to create unforgettable memories with loved ones. Open during the winter season, glide, twirl, and delight in the joy of skating in the heart of West Omaha. Only skaters need to reserve a ticket. All attending need to sign a waiver.
Thomas Dambo’s TROLLS: Save the Humans
They’ve wandered the world, and now they’re headed to Omaha! TROLLS: Save the Humans, an outdoor exhibit by acclaimed artist Thomas Dambo, open through May 18, 2026 at Lauritzen Gardens. Crafted from reclaimed wood and full of wild wisdom, these six towering trolls are on a mission to help humans rediscover their connection to nature. Explore the gardens and meet these gentle giants — each with a story and a whole lot of personality.
The Great Reuben Debate

Nature Storytime
Bundle up and join Keep Omaha Beautiful educators for a wintery exploration of nature’s hidden magic! We’ll begin by reading "Jayden’s Impossible Garden," a heartwarming story about a boy who finds beauty and nature in unexpected places—even in the middle of a city. After our story, we’ll head outside on a short winter nature walk to observe animal tracks, bare branches, dried seed pods, and other signs of life that often go unnoticed in the colder months. Back inside, we’ll share our discoveries and create a collaborative mural that captures the quiet beauty of Omaha’s winter landscape.
Snack Attack (3rd-5th Grade)

The Camp Smile Pediatric Dentistry Team is coming to the store to take kids on a tooth-cleaning adventure! Their Brushing Friends will teach kids all the best brushing techniques, plus kids will get to practice flossing and discover which foods will keep their teeth strong and which ones won't. Everyone will go home with brighter smiles and bigger brains!
Cut & Create: Vision & Mood Boards
Set your intentions and bring your goals to life through the power of vision and mood boarding! In this creative workshop, you'll use magazines, images, words, and craft supplies to design a personalized vision or mood board that reflects your dreams, goals, and inspirations for the future. No artistic experience needed—just bring your ideas and an open mind. All materials provided, but feel free to bring any personal images or quotes you'd like to include. This is a free event for adults.

Winter Travelin’ Trivia Nights
Winter Travelin’ Trivia is back! When the weather turns cold, find us at some of the hottest spots in La Vista. Form a team with your friends and test your wits playing trivia with La Vista City staff on the second Wednesday of each month. Top teams will win prizes. A food truck will be on site, and the host locations will offer a range of beverages for purchase. Teams of 2-6 people are welcome to play. Pre-registration is not required.
Bookends & Brushes
Add your creativity to the library—or your own bookshelf! In this all-ages workshop, participants will decorate clear, acrylic bookends using paint, stickers, and more. You can choose to take your finished bookend home or donate it to the library. This is a free event for all ages.

Breakfast with the Birds
The early bird gets breakfast! Join us for a tasty assortment of breakfast items while learning about Iowa's feathered friends with accomplished birder Nic Salick. Learn more about the species that call Iowa home, get tips and tricks to improve your own bird identification skills, and see who's visiting the feeders from your indoor vantage point at the beautiful Loess Hills Lodge. This indoor program is designed for learners age 12 & over please. Cost is $15.00 per person & includes park admission, programming, and breakfast. Please meet at the Loess Hills Lodge. Little Learners: Seasonal Science
Looking to explore the seasons with your little learner? Join us for our new program learning what happens in the forest as the seasons change – Little Learners: Seasonal Science! We’ll discuss what animals do as the seasons change, and explore science stations focused on winter, spring, or fall. Join us on a hike looking for snowflakes, spring shoots, or falling leaves, and make your own seasonal craft to take home!

Mario Kart Tournament
Join OPL for a Mario Kart tournament at the Downtown Branch. We will be playing the game on the Nintendo Switch 2. This is a free program for ages 11-13. Registration is required.
Midnight Madness
Ski or snowboard after dark during Midnight Madness and experience a different kind of nightlife at Crescent Hill at Hitchcock. All Ages. 8:00 p.m. to Midnight. Ticketing opens at 7:00 p.m. for anyone with pre-purchased lift tickets. Walk-in ticket sales begin at 8:00 p.m. We HIGHLY recommend purchasing rentals (if needed) with your Midnight Madness lift ticket as walk-in rental equipment is extremely limited.
