Thomas Dambo’s TROLLS: Save the Humans
They’ve wandered the world, and now they’re headed to Omaha! TROLLS: Save the Humans, an outdoor exhibit by acclaimed artist Thomas Dambo, open through May 18, 2026 at Lauritzen Gardens. Crafted from reclaimed wood and full of wild wisdom, these six towering trolls are on a mission to help humans rediscover their connection to nature. Explore the gardens and meet these gentle giants — each with a story and a whole lot of personality.
Letters to Santa
Write a letter and send it off to the North Pole. If you drop off a letter by December 13, you’ll get a response mailed back before Christmas. You can ask Santa questions, share a story, draw a picture or just let him know what gifts are on your wishlist this year. Drop your letters in one of the special mailboxes at Santa’s Workshop or at the Library. (No postage needed.) Be sure to include your name and return address so Santa knows where to send his reply.
The Pigeon Gets A Big Time Holiday Extravaganza!
When Mo Willems’ characters get together for the holidays, it’s bound to be the biggest extravaganza ever! The Unlimited Squirrels deck the halls and Elephant and Piggie come ready to celebrate! But will The Pigeon join in the festivities, or will he run all the way to the North Pole in the search of the greatest gift ever? Catchy tunes, silly stories, goofy gifts, audience antics: it’s all in this brand-new musical party that sleighs!
The Hitchcock Experience Endurance Run
Hitchcock Nature Center is proud to host another amazing Hitchcock Experience Endurance Run, presented by the Greater Omaha Area Trail-Runnerz. Runners will descend upon the park on December 6th and 7th to participate in a half-marathon, 101K, 50-mile, or 100-mile endurance run through the picturesque Loess Hills.

Marcel the Shell with Shoes On (2021) at Film Streams
The brainchild of director Dean Fleischer Camp and comedian, writer and actor Jenny Slate, “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On” became an unexpected internet sensation when it made its YouTube debut in 2010. Annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Show
The Annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Show will be held Saturday and Sunday, December 6th-7th, at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs. The hours of the show are from 9am to 5pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday. Admission is $6 and children 10 and younger are free. Parking is free throughout the show. All patrons who attend the show on Saturday will receive a two-day re-entry stamp.

Mini Magic: Holiday Diorama Workshop
Grab a friend, partner, family member or work alone while creating a Christmas Winter Diorama. Using a box, mini figures, craft material and lots of imagination, participants will build their own winter wonderland or holiday scene to take home. Whether it’s Santa’s workshop, a cozy snowy village or a gingerbread house scene, let your imagination come to life. All supplies are provided, or participants can bring their own items to add to the diorama. This program is ideal for participants to work in pairs (parent-child, siblings, friends), but you may work alone. *Registration is required and space is limited. There is a nonrefundable material fee of $10 per diorama. Stop by the Library to get registered.
Greenery and Glitter in Downtown Gretna
Please join the City of Gretna for our annual holiday event, Greenery and Glitter, located in downtown Gretna on McKenna Ave and at Peterson Park. This years theme is "Candy Cane Lane". From 12pm-4pm There will be a wide variety of activities located at different businesses on McKenna Ave, we encourage you to visit all the shops on the map to participate in their activity and have some holiday fun! Some activities do not start until 1pm, those times will be listed so you can better plan. From 4pm-6pm at Peterson Park we will have even more activities for everyone to enjoy! Entertainment, soup, hot dogs, hot cider, hot cocoa and a tree lighting ceremony with Mayor Evans + MORE!

Santa is opening the doors to his workshop in La Vista once again, and you’re invited to join the fun! Stroll through the festive La Vista Wonderland in Central Park, see the reindeer, sip on free hot cocoa, snack on cookies and enjoy holiday activities while you wait to meet Santa. Check in at the tent and get a pager right away when you arrive for your visit. The Workshop may reach capacity at times—Santa is a popular guy after all. Please be prepared to spend some time outdoors (or in the tent) before entering the building.

Ho Ho Ho! During the busy holiday season, The Durham Museum makes it easy for families to create special memories with Santa. Tuesday Nights with Santa are filled with family-fun activities, and of course, an appearance from Jolly Saint Nick himself! Santa's Cabin closes at 7:30PM.

Night Hike at Schramm Park
Enjoy the sounds of the forest on a crisp winter night and join Schramm naturalists to hike the forest after nightfall. Meet at the pond trailhead and bring a flashlight or head lamp. We will hike for about an hour and will walk about 2 miles, from the Pond Trailhead along the Hackberry Trail to the full Red Cedar Trail loop. There are stairs at the trailhead and one spot along the hike where there will be an elevation change and we will walk up a hill. This is a free program, but a State Park Vehicle Entry Permit is required.

Ringing in the Holidays – Pancakes with Santa
Join for pancakes and a visit with Santa Claus! $6/per plate
Visit Santa At His Workshop (PET FRIENDLY, no reindeer on this date)
Santa is opening the doors to his workshop in La Vista once again, and you’re invited to join the fun! Stroll through the festive La Vista Wonderland in Central Park, see the reindeer, sip on free hot cocoa, snack on cookies and enjoy holiday activities while you wait to meet Santa. Check in at the tent and get a pager right away when you arrive for your visit. The Workshop may reach capacity at times—Santa is a popular guy after all. Please be prepared to spend some time outdoors (or in the tent) before entering the building.
Breakfast with Santa
Get your picture taken with the one and only Santa Claus, but before you tell him your wish list, enjoy a delicious breakfast. Parents are asked to stay with their children at the event. All participants must register.
Sensory-Friendly Breakfast with Santa
Bloomwell Autism Therapy is hosting a Sensory-Friendly Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 13 from 9 AM – 12 PM at our Elkhorn clinic! Join for a morning of FREE festive fun! We'll have photos with a sensory-sensitive Santa, Christmas crafts, and a breakfast of french toast sticks, pancakes, muffins, fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, milk, juice, and coffee!
Breakfast with Santa
Breakfast with Santa is back for the third year - An event for the whole family to enjoy! Pancake feed is from 9:30am-12:30pm. Santa will be available for photos from 10am-noon. Kids will be able to write a letter for him and hand it directly to him! This event is free for anyone to attend. No matter the weather they will have the event.

Christmas Kiddie Crafts: Christmas Cards
Kiddie Craft is a hands-on, creative program designed for children to explore colors, textures and simple craft techniques in a fun and supportive environment. During this session, participants will be able to make Christmas Cards. Grown-ups are welcome to craft alongside their kids or relax nearby. Ages: 0–11 years
Santa and His Reindeer are Flying into Bel Air Plaza
Santa and his reindeer are flying into Bel Air Plaza on December 6th and December 13th. Come out to the plaza to talk to Santa and see the reindeer. Elsa and Anna will be there serving cookies and hot cocoa!! This is a special event for everyone and we hope to see you there.

During the holiday poinsettia show, local musicians share their talents and perform holiday classics that are sure to delight guests of all ages.

Feel the festive Holiday magic at NFM with 2 days filled with free holiday fun, and photos with Santa. You’re sure to have a merry time your family won’t forget.
Holiday Concert Series at The Durham
Enjoy some of the area’s most beautiful holiday music under the glow of The Durham’s Christmas tree. Talented local entertainers perform as part of museum’s holiday concert series. Special support for the concert series provided by Star 104.5 the Christmas Station.

Christmas at the Farm
'Tis the season to be jolly, Bellevue Berry Farm would love to invite you all to enjoy our Country Christmas event. Let’s celebrate the Season in our cozy country atmosphere with Hot Cocoa, decorate cookies with Mrs. Claus, write your Christmas list and then take a picture with Santa. Share a wish with the North Pole’s greatest ambassador, and capture this year’s holiday family photo (please bring your own camera to take pictures). Santa will be located in the classroom of Sofia's Play Garden. Included with a ticket to Bright Nights.

Geminids Meteor Shower Viewing
Come watch the Geminids Meteor Shower and stargaze at Neale Woods located at 14323 Edith Marie Ave. in Omaha. Our event will begin with a brief evening hike on dirt-packed trails through the prairie and forest. Then as night falls, we will stargaze together and watch for shooting stars while learning about meteor showers and general astronomy from our seasoned volunteer, Bob Fuchs.
