Whether you're a seasoned skater or stepping on to the ice for the first time, their ice rink is the perfect place to create unforgettable memories with loved ones. Open during the winter season, glide, twirl, and delight in the joy of skating in the heart of West Omaha. Only skaters need to reserve a ticket. All attending need to sign a waiver.

Come watch the annual Leonids Meteor Shower and enjoy stargazing at Neale Woods located at 14323 Edith Marie Ave. in Omaha. Our event will begin with a brief evening hike on dirt-packed trails through the prairie and forest. Then as night falls, we will watch for shooting stars together while learning about meteor showers and general astronomy from our seasoned volunteer, Bob Fuchs. The Omaha Astronomical Society will have telescopes available as well for your stargazing enjoyment.

Toddler Tuesday: Christmas Fun with Miss Jill
Come and get into the holiday spirit! Miss Jill will read a few Christmas stories, plus they'll have several Christmas craft stations where kids can let their creativity shine. Everyone will leave feeling merry and bright!
Laser-cut Turkeys
Make something fun for Fall Holidays, but with lasers. (As usual, adults must stay with minors during class, but REALLY, the whole time. Did I mention lasers?)
Storybook STEM Challenge
Help the princess build the most comfortable mattress! After reading The Princess and the Pea, participants will have one hour to complete a challenge: create a mattress so comfy that you can’t feel the “pea”! At the end of the program, we’ll put each creation to the test and see which is the comfiest. This is a free program for kids ages 8–10. Registration is required
Lotus Lantern Craft Workshop
Join OPL and Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project for a virtual interactive session! There will be a brief presentation on the significance of the lotus flower and the Lotus Lantern Festival, a step-by-step craft session where participants create their own traditional Korean lotus lantern, and a short documentary on Korea to close the event. This craft is suitable for ages 13+ and younger participants are encouraged to complete the craft with an adult caregiver.

This hike will explore the gravel and dirt trails near the Nature Center, then head out to the third loop of the Boardwalk to watch the sunset over the Missouri River.

Celebrate at The Platform: Thanksgiving

Wild Robot Escape Room
Roz needs your help! The poison tide is threatening her island, and she needs your help to figure out how to stop it! Work with others to solve clues and puzzles themed around the best-selling Wild Robot series by Peter Brown. Can you help Roz in time? This is a free event for children ages 6–9. Registration is required and opens Oct. 15. There will be a session at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m.
Mush! with Sophia the Sled Dog
Mush in to meet a real Iditarod racer and sled dog! Join Karen and Sophia, the Alaskan husky, for a presentation about mushing, a demonstration of Arctic clothing and gear, and a Q&A. Dog mushing is a traditional mode of Arctic transportation, and 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of the 1925 Serum Run with Balto and Togo — the historic event on which the Iditarod race is based. Celebrate these brave dogs and mushers with Karen and Sophia at the library!
Santa Paws Holiday Photos – SNAFU Rescue Fundraiser
Santa will be in town to see your furry friends! Please join at The Green Spot Omaha on Saturday, November 22nd, from 2-5 PM. If Santa isn’t your pup’s thing, they can shoot photos with just a festive holiday backdrop. Reservations are encouraged but walk ins will be welcome! For just $20 (Cash or Venmo), you’ll get your holiday pics and help our cause for saving dogs!
