Dragons Love Tacos The Musical
The only thing dragons love more than parties are TACO PARTIES! If you want dragons to come to your party, serving tacos is the way to go. But do not, under ANY circumstances, serve dragons spicy tacos. Join Robbie and his dog Kodi as they throw the biggest party of the year, with tacos that have NO spice…or do they? Featuring catchy original songs, vibrant characters, and a slew of dragons, this show brings Adam Rubin’s hilarious book to the stage. Will Robbie succeed in throwing the ultimate taco party without any fiery mishaps?
47th Annual Creston Southwest Iowa Hot Air Balloon Days
Almost 35 balloons participate in races over the weekend. In addition there is a parade with a marching band contest and balloonist and many more, also a doll show, arts & crafts fair, flea market, balloon night glow, food booths and more. Come for the day or the weekend.

Woodbine Iowa Apple Fest
Since 1988, visitors have traveled the Lincoln Highway National Byway (IA Hwy 30) and the Loess Hills Scenic Byway to Woodbine the Last Saturday in September for the Woodbine Applefest! A Halloween tradition without the frights, Cobweb Castle returns this fall! Clamber your way through the spooky maze, scale the castle wall, or don your sorcerer’s hat and makeup. Monarch Tagging at The Zoo
Help track the incredible migration of monarch butterflies. Guests of all ages are invited to participate in monarch tagging at the Zoo each Sunday in September from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Intergenerational Orchestra
One of the most unique musical ensembles in the United States, The Intergeneration Orchestra of Omaha bridges two diverse age groups through the common language of music. The Orchestra is now in it’s 41st season. Musicians are all volunteers and either 25 years of age and younger or 55 years of age and older. Visit the Performance Pavilion for an afternoon of great music!

Come and create a spooky canvas that glows! You’ll be given a black canvas to decorate using phosphorescent paint and stencils. Your final creation will glow-in-the-dark! Explore digital storytelling through hands-on STEM and coding activities with our new community partner, Snapology! Kids will dive into robotics and coding using LEGO® bricks and technology—building skills and having fun along the way. This is a free event for kids 6-12. Registration is required.
Spark Your Story
Join Washington Branch every Thursday as local community members share their story. Enjoy snacks, engage in discussion with the storyteller, and explore new professions, storytelling mediums, and activities. This program is for teens 11–18 years old.

The Gift Crow Opening Celebration
LALA (Local Artists. Local Art), a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting local creative voices, invites the public to a vibrant evening of art, music, and celebration at “LALA Arty Party: Gift Crow Celebration”, at 8th Street Plaza at Heartland of America Park, next to the Skate Ribbon. At the heart of the event is the debut of “Gift Crow”, a striking new sculpture by local artist Renee' A. Ledesma, followed by remarks from both Ledesma and Weston Thomsen, Co-Director at LALA. The evening will include a performance by Mariachi Femenil Tecalitlan, an appearance by the River City Mixed Chorus, locally designed inflatable sculptures, and a lively celebration of LALA artists and their work.

Kid Coders at Do Space
Join for Kid Coders, a fun and interactive class where young learners explore the basics of computer programming through games, puzzles, and creative challenges. Using kid-friendly platforms like Code.org, students will build confidence with core coding concepts such as sequencing, loops, and logic — all while having a blast in a supportive group setting. No prior experience needed!
34th Annual Fort Omaha Intertribal Powwow
The Fort Omaha Intertribal Powwow highlights Native American dance, music, regalia, oral history and arts. With its rich ties to Native American history, where Ponca Chief Standing Bear and his people were detained pending the 1879 landmark civil rights case granting Native Americans the right of Habeas corpus, the Fort Omaha Campus continues to offer an ideal location for this outdoor community event uniting people of diverse cultures, races, socioeconomic backgrounds and ages. This event is family-friendly and free and open to the public.
Celebrating Native American cultures, the powwow honors the traditional dance, music, artistry, oral history and foods of various tribes across Nebraska and the surrounding region including Omaha, Ponca, Santee Sioux and Winnebago.

Storybook STEM Challenge
Help the princess build the most comfortable mattress! After reading The Princess and the Pea, participants will have one hour to complete a challenge: create a mattress so comfy that you can’t feel the “pea”! At the end of the program, we’ll put each creation to the test and see which is the comfiest. This is a free program for kids ages 8–10. Registration is required
Apple Tasting
They have a new batch of apples to taste and rate this year, generously donated by Vala's Apple Orchard! Come for fresh fruit and lots of other fun for the whole family! Drop in anytime. No library card or registration required.
Oktoberfest La Vista
Join for a traditional Oktoberfest celebration with a modern-day twist in City Centre! Main Street will be closed to make way for music, Oktoberfest-themed games and activities, a Husker Volleyball watch party (game time 3 p.m.), hearty food, and of course a beer garden.
Titanic Escape Room
Join OPL for a Titanic-sized adventure! You will be “locked” in a room, and in order to escape in time, you will need to solve various puzzles and clues related to the RMS Titanic before your time is up. There will be a session at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m for participants ages 13-18. Maximum of 10 people per room per time slot.
Boomstock
Boomstock is more than just a concert—it’s a celebration of the legendary 60s and 70s music that defined a generation. Hosted by Boomer Radio, this charity event, supporting Project Harmony and 50 Mile March Community of Hope, brings the Omaha community together for a night of groovy tunes, good vibes, and giving back. By attending Boomstock, you're not just enjoying great music--you're helping support important local causes!
