OPL Summer Reading Program: Color Our World
Receive two free books when you register! Complete any combination of 10 activities or reading/listening hours to receive a(n): Sticky hand or Smencil, Voucher for a book from the Friends of Omaha Public Library book sale, Omaha Storm Chasers ticket voucher (for an 8/13 or 8/17 game), and a Chance to win additional prizes
Pick up a Summer Reading Program Babies & Toddlers, Kids or Teens tracker at any branch to mark your progress. Color a section of the pathway each time you complete an activity or 1 hour of reading/listening (sections are subdivided into 20-minute increments). Bring your completed tracker to the help desk at any OPL location to receive your prize.

Popcorn Productions, LLC and Eugene T. Mahoney State Park present three melodramas this summer: “Peril of the Storm,” “Baron’s Revenge” and “Troll of Trafalgar.” Performances take place at the Denman and Mary Mallory Kountze Memorial Theatre inside the park.
Yoga in the Park at Turner Park
Yoga in the Park offers a weekly outdoor yoga session, sponsored by Methodist Health System and led by certified yoga instructors from Genesis Health Clubs. Yoga styles and instructors will vary from week-to-week. All skill levels welcome, including beginners! Sundays, May 25-July 27
Nebraska Crossroads Music Fest Omaha Showcase
Grab your blanket, lawn chair, and favorite drink for our annual Crossroads Showcase in downtown Omaha’s Premiere Outdoor Venue, Gene Leahy Mall Pavilion – the young, but already iconic gem in Omaha’s RiverFront district. Enjoy an scenic evening of music and poetry with festival headliners Dawn of Midi, Layale Chaker and Sarafand, and Kinan Azmeh, along with poetry from the current and former Nebraska State Poet and true Cornhusker wordsmiths Jewel Rodgers and Matt Mason.

Toddler Tuesday: Brian Henning Puppet Show
Come one, come all, to the best puppet show in town! Brian Henning will make you laugh, cry, learn, and most of all - have FUN - all with the help of a few plushy puppet pals. And at the end, kids will get to make their own puppet to take home! (No strings attached!)
Durham $5 after 5 Tuesdays
"$5 after 5" is back, giving guests an opportunity to visit the museum after 5PM on Tuesday evenings throughout the summer. From June 3-August 26, admission for all ages will be just $5 after 5PM on Tuesdays.
Book Talk and Tote
Are you ready to get crafty? Come design your own book tote while listening to book talks. Have fun decorating your own unique book tote using various art supplies and iron on patches. You are encouraged to talk about a book you enjoyed with the rest of the group, but it is not required. All supplies are included.
This is a free event for teens aged 13-18. Registration is required
Community Fishing Night: Papillion
Join for Community Fishing Night at Halleck Lake! All participants ages 16 and older need a fishing license. A valid state park entry permit is also required for events at state park areas.

String Sprouts Visits Storytime
Join OPL for a musical storytime with guests from the Omaha Conservatory of Music. This storytime will include a special musical story, songs with movement, and an instrument petting zoo, where participants can try out a violin, cello, glockenspiel, stirring xylophone, lollipop drum, and a shaker instrument.

Neighborhood Walking Tour
Gather a group of friends or family members to explore the Washington Branch and neighborhood! Stop by the Washington Branch to pick up a zine detailing ten locations to explore. You’ll have four hours to see as many of the sights as you can before heading back to the library for a prize! All groups will begin and end at Washington.
This is a free event for adults 19+.
Spark Your Story
Join Washington Branch every Thursday as local community members share their story. Enjoy snacks, engage in discussion with the storyteller, and explore new professions, storytelling mediums, and activities. This program is for teens 11–18 years old.
Vibes Summer Concert Series: The Personics
Get ready to soak up the sun and feel the rhythm at the Summer Vibes Concert Series, your weekly dose of live music, good vibes, and unforgettable summer nights! Join Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 pm for an exciting lineup of local and regional talent—featuring everything from rock and pop to funk and soul. Vibes concerts are located in the Village Pointe Amphitheater, sponsored by Children’s Nebraska.
Late Nights at the Zoo (21+)
After hours at the Zoo, it’s a different kind of crowd. Sips, bites and wild sights select Thursday nights all summer long. 21+ only.
Classics With a Cause Series: Up
Each week, Quasar pairs up a local business with a local charitable cause, to present a “Classic” retro title for a “Free-to-the-Public ” event to raise awareness and support. This is a great way for your organization to educate and interact with an eager audience. Solicitation of free-will donations or mission-specific item donations can be part of pre-event, advertising co-op.

Wizarding Adventure Escape Room
Calling all witches and wizards! Think you have what it takes to participate in this Wizarding Adventure? Come solve puzzles and clues to unlock a prize box before time runs out in this escape room based on the best-selling "Harry Potter" book series. There will be three escape rooms, at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. for participants ages 8-12. Try to escape over summer break! Registration is required
Lost Mummy Escape Room
Get ready to unearth Egypt's ancient secrets as your crew investigates the mystery of the Lost Mummy. This escape room will bring the past back to life. But hold on... maybe some things are best left buried. This is a free event for teens aged 13-18. Registration is required and will open June 15. There will be three escape rooms at 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, and 3:00 PM.
Live on the Lawn: Lemon Fresh Day
Grab a lawn chair, your cooler, and join us at the Soapbox Derby Track (next to Seymour Smith Park) for an evening of live music from Lemon Fresh Day! Lemon Fresh Day has been voted 'Best of Omaha - Local Band' for 7 years in a row!

On August, the topic will be owls! Celebrate Owl Awareness Day as you learn about these mysterious nocturnal hunters, dissect an owl pellet and more. The event will be held at the pavilion east of the Caboose Park.
MAHA Festival 2025
Headlining the festival are the legendary Pixies, pioneers of alternative rock whose influence resonates throughout modern music. Insect Adventure at Wildlife Safari Park

Nebraska Crossroads Music and Storytelling
Crossroads joins forces with the The Joslyn for a day of creativity and connection for the whole family. Enjoy a fun-filled children’s concert, two performances by the enchanting Nordic-folk duo ííS, live poetry with Nebraska State Poets, current and former, Jewel Rodgers and Matt Mason, and an interactive storytelling-through-poetry workshop with Matt Mason. It’s a perfect way to experience music, stories, and art–together.

Stinson Park Concert Series: The Traynr Band
The Traynr Band at Stinson Park! There will be food and drink vendors, face painters, balloon artists, and playground equipment for kids to enjoy. Feel free to bring chairs, blankets, and coolers for the concerts. Please use koozies for your cans and plastic cups for other drinks, as glass is prohibited. Also, please refrain from bringing tents, canopies, or staking anything into the ground. Most importantly, have fun and enjoy your time in Stinson Park! Aksarben Village is always buzzing with something fun to do!
