Forever Young Film Series: Surf’s Up
The film profiles Cody Maverick, an up-and-coming surfer as he enters his first pro competition. He leaves his family in Antarctica to travel to Pen Gu Island for a Memorial Surf Off, believing that winning will bring him the admiration and respect he desires. But when he unexpectedly comes face to face with a washed up surfer, Cody begins to understand that the greatest champion isn't always the one who comes in first.
4th of July Living History Celebration at Fort Atkinson
Ongoing demonstrations featuring military and civilian life of the 1820s will occur throughout the park. Reenactors portray fur traders, coopers, blacksmiths, carpenters, tinsmiths, weavers and other period trades. Visitors are encouraged to interact with the reenactors.

In this workshop you will learn how to design and decorate do-it-yourself stickers. Use markers to experiment with layering light and dark color combinations to add details to your sticker designs. You will have so much fun making stickers in the sun that you will want to share your new DIY sticker hack with others!

Make It: Popsicle Stick Catapults
Ready, aim… launch! In this hands-on Make It session, students will build their own mini catapults using popsicle sticks, rubber bands, and a few simple materials. Along the way, they'll explore basic principles of physics like tension, force, and trajectory—then put their creations to the test in friendly launch challenges. This playful project is great for curious minds who love to build, experiment, and see how far they can fling! Registration is required for this event.
Durham $5 after 5 Tuesdays
"$5 after 5" is back, giving guests an opportunity to visit the museum after 5PM on Tuesday evenings throughout the summer. From June 3-August 26, admission for all ages will be just $5 after 5PM on Tuesdays.

Join for Community Fishing Night at Halleck Lake! All participants ages 16 and older need a fishing license. A valid state park entry permit is also required for events at state park areas.

Join OPL for a musical storytime with guests from the Omaha Conservatory of Music. Join OPL at the Gene Leahy Mall for storytime! Storytime is geared toward preschoolers, but all ages are welcome to join in the fun. Rain or shine, we'll be there! They will be under the big white pavilion.
Floor is Lava
Join OPL for a special storytime featuring the book Harry and Hot Lava by Chris Robertson! At the conclusion of storytime, children will be timed as they jump and hop their way through an obstacle course using various surfaces. Go as fast as you can, but don’t fall in because…the Floor is Lava! This is a free event for children 4+.
Turtle Talk with Papio NRD
Join OPL as we welcome staff from Papio Natural Resources District. They will teach us all about turtles! Did you know Nebraska is home to 9 species of turtles? With the help of a few animal educators, we will learn all about what makes a turtle, a turtle!
Drum Workshop
Join Omaha Street Percussion for a workshop designed to give young patrons an opportunity to drum, while at the same time learn the importance of teamwork. Participants will be challenged to multi-task by using skills such as counting, listening, and watching for instruction and guidance in order to accomplish the ultimate goal, which is to perform as a whole group! Registration is required
La Vista Summer Splash (La Vista Public Library)
Cool off this summer at the Summer Splash (formerly Hydrant Party). This La Vista summer tradition brings community members together to enjoy some outdoor fun with water. Local firefighters will be there to provide a giant sprinkler. Water toys and squirt guns are available for attendees to use and enjoy.
Spark Your Story
Join Washington Branch every Thursday as local community members share their story. Enjoy snacks, engage in discussion with the storyteller, and explore new professions, storytelling mediums, and activities. This program is for teens 11–18 years old.
Vibes Summer Concert Series: Come Together Band
Get ready to soak up the sun and feel the rhythm at the Summer Vibes Concert Series, your weekly dose of live music, good vibes, and unforgettable summer nights! Join Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 pm for an exciting lineup of local and regional talent—featuring everything from rock and pop to funk and soul. Classics With a Cause Series: The Goonies
Each week, Quasar pairs up a local business with a local charitable cause, to present a “Classic” retro title for a “Free-to-the-Public ” event to raise awareness and support. This is a great way for your organization to educate and interact with an eager audience. Solicitation of free-will donations or mission-specific item donations can be part of pre-event, advertising co-op.

Hoot — the mascot for the Union Omaha soccer team — will visit for a special storytime. Children of all ages are welcome. Experience stories, creative movement, music and more. We explore the early literacy skills of singing, playing, reading, talking and writing in each storytime. This is a free event for all ages.
Shark Attack Slime
Dunnah..dunnah..dunnah!! SHARK!!!! AHHHH!!!!🦈 Join in celebration of Shark Week with a DIY Shark Attack Slime workshop!! Let’s Keep It Poppin Summer Art Fair will be a family-friendly good day out. With the summer festivities coming to an end we will still be making it POP after the Fourth of July with phenomenal local vendors of the midlands. The Blind Picasso nonprofit will be bringing in vendors who sale items from beautiful canvas art to delicious delicate bites of sweetness. This serves as a crucial reminder to avoid wandering around the park during a rainstorm, as you might cross paths with a venomous dinosaur that could leave you blinded. Nebraska Star Party at Mahoney State Park
Join this summer for some stargazing at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park! Powerful telescopes will be set up at the park’s golf shack for a glimpse of the night sky spectaculars. The event is free to the public, but you will need a valid Nebraska park entry permit for your vehicle. Stargazing will begin at dusk. Remember to bring your camp chairs or blankets! Telescopes will be provided.
