Welcome to Mission: Astronaut, a hands-on experience where visitors learn about space exploration, the technology that makes it possible, how it benefits life on Earth, and more through astronaut training challenges. Each section presents interactive tasks that require an astronaut’s mindset to solve and focus on engineering, physics, teamwork, and fun!
Waitress at Omaha Community Playhouse
Tony Award®-nominated musical Waitress offers a unique recipe for finding happiness in unexpected places. Jenna, an adept pie maker and waitress at the local diner, finds herself trapped in a small town and an unfulfilling marriage. Cat Kid Comic Club: The Musical
Cat Kid and Molly Pollywog have started an epic club to teach 21 rambunctious baby frogs how to make their own comics! Their fishy father Flippy is overjoyed that his kids will learn to unleash their creativity, but when the frogs’ constant bickering and outrageous imaginations send their comics comically off the rails, Flippy flips out! Will the club survive? Will the frogs ever get along? And will creativity finally save the day? All will be answered in this madcap musical based on Dav Pilkey’s irreverently hilarious Dog Man spin-off series, Cat Kid Comic Club.

Homeschool in the Hills: Bison & Elk
Historically, the dominant habitat in Iowa has been tall grass prairie. Once, massive herds of bison and elk roamed over this landscape. These large herbivores played a vital role in sustaining the prairie. During this special session of Homeschool in the Hills, we’ll examine how bison and elk helped shape the prairie and we’ll look at the complex relationship between humans and these large prairie dwellers. We’ll even get an opportunity to get an up close look at the bison and elk herds at Botna Bend Park.

Valentine’s Day Conservation Hearts
Many people enjoy Conversation Hearts on Valentine’s Day, but we are here to teach conservation! We will be creating “Conservation Hearts” with recycled materials. Participants will learn about fast fashion and over-packaging and discuss some ways to cut back on waste this year.
Participants are welcome to contribute a few small pieces of scrap fabric cut from worn-out clothing or leftovers from sewing projects. We will provide materials. The heart takes about 30 minutes to make.
Puzzle Competition: Escape Room Edition
A puzzle competition with an Escape Room twist! Each team will have 2 hours to complete the same 368-piece puzzle and solve the included mystery. There will be 10 teams competing to see who can finish the puzzle the fastest!
Interactive Movie: Wonka (2023)
Join OPL for a fun-filled afternoon watching "Wonka" (2023)! It will be an interactive experience with activities during the movie. Families may bring blankets, pillows, and food with the expectation that each family will clean up their mess. Doors will open at 1:45 p.m. with the events starting at 2 p.m. This is a free event for kids 5+.
Bee Party!
Learn about the amazing world of bees! Discover how to get your start with backyard beekeeping with special guests from Valhalla Bee Farm. Taste and ask questions about honey with Bee Bum Honey. There will be activities for all ages from kids to adults!

Visit scenic Platte River State Park for a romantic Valentine’s Day Steak Night on Feb. 14 at the Walter Scott Jr. Lodge & Restaurant! Activities are geared toward preschool through third-grade students and families, and the exhibit is an exciting adventure for all ages. Valentine’s Day 5K & Youth 5K Road Championship
The Valentine's Day 5K is the 3rd race in 2025 Winter Fitness Series. The race takes place on a very flat 1.5 mile closed loop course at scenic Two Rivers State Park in Waterloo, NE. Just minutes west of Omaha. USATF Certified. Official times. Presented by Run Nebraska and 402 XC & Track. Great for first timers and those looking to stick to New Years Resolutions!

Ben Bailey Comedian
Don’t miss your chance to see comedian Ben Bailey live in Omaha! He drove the smash hit series Cash Cab (still in syndication around the world) for over 550 episodes, earning multiple Daytime Emmy® Awards. Prior to becoming “the Cash Cab guy,” he performed at The Comedy Store in LA, in clubs across NYC, and at major comedy festivals around the world. Bailey starred in two specials for Comedy Central. He released "Road Rage and Accidental Ornithology" in 2011; and “Ben Bailey: Live and Uncensored” in 2016.
