Merry & Bright: Holiday Poinsettia Show
Whether it’s a visit to the iconic 20’ tall poinsettia tree, a tour through the lush conservatory to see the holiday express, roasting marshmallows on the festival garden patio, or finding the perfect gift in the gift shop, there is a natural magic at Lauritzen Gardens that makes the season Merry & Bright.
The Lost World of Dragons
From Game of Thrones to How to Train Your Dragon, there is no denying that people of all ages love dragons and the magical mystique behind them. Experience them in a new way at The Lost World of Dragons. Now open at The Durham Museum, this exhibit showcases a unique, interactive experience for guests of all ages that is sure to breathe new fire into your imagination! Visitors will be immersed in stories of dragons — exploring the lore and history of them in nearly every region and culture, from Norway to China.
The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)
The Muppets perform the classic Dickens holiday tale, with Kermit the Frog playing Bob Cratchit, the put-upon clerk of stingy Ebenezer Scrooge (Michael Caine). Other Muppets -- Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie Bear, and Sam the Eagle -- weave in and out of the story, while Scrooge receives visits from spirits of three Christmases -- past, present, and future. They show him the error of his self-serving ways, but the miserable old man seems to be past any hope of redemption and happiness.
Visit Santa’s Cabin
Are your kids ready to share their carefully curated list with Santa? During Christmas at Union Station presented by FNBO, they’ll be able to have a magical visit with our jolly pal from the North Pole in his cozy cabin retreat. Plan a visit and see the big guy before it’s too late to get on the nice list! Children can choose to sit with Santa or give him a call on our old-fashioned telephone (apt for a history museum, don’t you think?). If using the phone, Santa’s elves will be at the switchboard to make sure you get connected to the big guy himself.
Kids can drop off their letters to Santa, too.
A Christmas Carol
It just isn’t Christmas without A Christmas Carol! Experience Omaha’s favorite holiday tradition as Ebenezer Scrooge takes us on a life-changing journey to discover the true meaning of Christmas. The must-see holiday event for the entire family is filled with stunning Victorian costumes, festive music and magical scenery.
A Christmas Story: The Musical
Join Ralphie Parker on his quest for the Holy Grail of Christmas gifts – a Red Ryder air rifle. This musical adaptation of the beloved movie brings all the classic laughs of Flick getting his tongue stuck to a flagpole, Dad getting his special award, a disastrous visit to Santa and many more to life onstage. Bring your family together this winter to experience the universal triumphs of childhood as seen through the eyes of a very special nine-year old.
Bright Nights
Once again, Lauritzen Gardens is making the holiday season merry and BRIGHT! The floral display hall and the Marjorie K. Daugherty Conservatory will be adorned and enhanced with light as the garden extends its hours to celebrate the beauty of the season.
These enchanted evenings are sure to become a holiday tradition. As you tour the glistening indoor gardens, gather around the crackling fire, write letters to Santa, shop for thoughtful holiday gifts in the gift shop, purchase a S'mores kit to roast a marshmallow, enjoy the family-friendly activities in the Family Chill Zone, and more.
Santa at Lauritzen Gardens
We hope that you’ve been good this year, because Santa is on his way to Lauritzen Gardens! Bring the kids to visit with the jolly ol’ man in his bright red suit as he stops at the garden this holiday season. Share a wish with the North Pole’s greatest ambassador, and capture this year’s holiday family photo (bring your own camera to take pictures). Santa will spread cheer on December 1, 6-8, and 11-23. Included with a ticket to Bright Nights.
