  • Art In the Park: Fuzzy Printing Workshop

    Turn drawings into prints through the process of trace monotypes. Using ink, paper, and the pressure of only a pencil, we will transfer designs to create a unique print. The transfer process creates a textured, contour fuzzy-line characteristic to these playful prints. Visitors will be welcome to create their own drawings or work from found images.     If you're looking for something fun to do next Monday, come out and join us and hundreds of our union brothers and sisters at the Omaha Labor Day Parade!!! It's next Monday, September 7, with the parade kicking off downtown at 10 a.m. The parade route winds through the city’s historic core, beginning at 16th and Cass Streets, heading south to Capitol Avenue, east to 10th Street, north to Mike Fahey Street, and west before concluding at 12th and Cass.

    Now in its 95th year, the Plattsmouth Harvest Festival is the oldest, continuous harvest festival in Nebraska.  Fun for the whole family, the 3-day event begins with the Coronation of the new King and Queen on Thursday evening.   • Schramm After Dark: Spider Night Hike

  • Monarch Tagging: Community Science Day

    A morning of butterfly tagging at the Neale Woods prairie, where you will learn how to get involved in national conservation efforts. Naturalist educators will explain the background of the Monarch Watch tagging project and show participants how to safely catch and tag the butterflies. Participants can take a set of tags home after the program to continue protecting these iconic butterflies in their own communities!

  • Make a Nature Zine

    Join naturalists at E.T. Mahoney State Park in the James Family Conservatory and Nature Center classroom for a workshop where you will learn to make mini magazines with a nature theme. Zines can be shared to bring joy and spread a positive message about nature. Participants will make zines to keep or share. Materials are provided. This program is best for ages 7 and up, but younger friends are welcome and may join or enjoy other nature center activities. The program is free and does not require registration, but a valid state park vehicle permit is required for park entry.
