Visit as many stops as you like, in any order you like, and cast your vote for the best cocktail in midtown! And be sure to break out the festive attire — ugly sweaters, cocktail dresses, Santa suits welcome!
Are you ready for the winter holidays? Get photos taken for free to send to family or friends! We'll have the green screen backdrop set up in the second floor of the library to take photos and then Photoshop it onto a winter background. *Note: Do not wear green.
Be sure to make your list and check it twice! You'll find gifts for all ages at their hand make craft fair. All proceeds from vendor fee's, raffle, as well as food and drink sold by St. Augustine on the day of the market will benefit Magdalene Omaha, their mission is to provide individualized support for survivors of sex trafficking to achieve freedom from violence, trauma, and addiction.
The Annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Show will be held Saturday and Sunday, December 6th-7th, at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs. The hours of the show are from 9am to 5pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday. Admission is $6 and children 10 and younger are free. Parking is free throughout the show. All patrons who attend the show on Saturday will receive a two-day re-entry stamp.

Grab a friend, partner, family member or work alone while creating a Christmas Winter Diorama. Using a box, mini figures, craft material and lots of imagination, participants will build their own winter wonderland or holiday scene to take home. Whether it’s Santa’s workshop, a cozy snowy village or a gingerbread house scene, let your imagination come to life. All supplies are provided, or participants can bring their own items to add to the diorama. This program is ideal for participants to work in pairs (parent-child, siblings, friends), but you may work alone. *Registration is required and space is limited. There is a nonrefundable material fee of $10 per diorama. Stop by the Library to get registered.

Winter Travelin’ Trivia is back! When the weather turns cold, find us at some of the hottest spots in La Vista. Form a team with your friends and test your wits playing trivia with La Vista City staff on the second Wednesday of each month. Top teams will win prizes. A food truck will be on site, and the host locations will offer a range of beverages for purchase. Teams of 2-6 people are welcome to play. Pre-registration is not required.

Enjoy the sounds of the forest on a crisp winter night and join Schramm naturalists to hike the forest after nightfall. Meet at the pond trailhead and bring a flashlight or head lamp. We will hike for about an hour and will walk about 2 miles, from the Pond Trailhead along the Hackberry Trail to the full Red Cedar Trail loop. There are stairs at the trailhead and one spot along the hike where there will be an elevation change and we will walk up a hill. This is a free program, but a State Park Vehicle Entry Permit is required.

Come watch the Geminids Meteor Shower and stargaze at Neale Woods located at 14323 Edith Marie Ave. in Omaha. Our event will begin with a brief evening hike on dirt-packed trails through the prairie and forest. Then as night falls, we will stargaze together and watch for shooting stars while learning about meteor showers and general astronomy from our seasoned volunteer, Bob Fuchs.

The Christmas Bird Count is a bird count that takes place every year around the holiday season! The Christmas Bird Count has been happening since 1900, and this year you can help! Join on a naturalist-guided bird count on the trails or boardwalk near the Nature Center. They will be hiking snow or shine, so make sure you come dressed for the weather! They’ll start with a brief history of the CBC, then hit the trails with a naturalist! Naturalists will lead hikes out to the Boardwalk or surrounding trails, but you can also opt to count birds inside by the bird feeders. They have binoculars available to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis, but we encourage you to bring your own! Event is free with daily admission, but pre-registration is required.

Welcome to what will quickly become another Omaha tradition. We are taking over the Heartwood pop up winter rink for a full four hour Chanukah party. To reserve your skating time just email the rink at the posted address. You do not need to be an ice skater to have a great time. There will be Israeli donuts, the latke truck, hot cocoa stations, crafts for all ages and the debut of our ice sculptured Menorah. When the sculptor finishes, we will light it together. Watching a Menorah emerge from a block of ice is a sight you will not forget.

Homeschool Hikes is a monthly nature exploration program hosted by the Schramm Education Center geared towards homeschool families. Each month, families can join a naturalist for a guided hike on the Schramm Park State Recreation Area hiking trails. During the program, participants will ask questions, draw, observe, and make discoveries in nature.
Join Washington Branch every Thursday as local community members share their story. Enjoy snacks, engage in discussion with the storyteller, and explore new professions, storytelling mediums, and activities. This program is for teens 11–18 years old.

Join OPL for a Super Smash Bros tournament at the Benson Branch. We will be playing the game on the Nintendo Switch 2. This is a free program for ages 13-18.
Join for a magical showing of Frozen 2 on the big screen! While enjoying the movie, kids can take part in fun Frozen-themed crafts and activities inspired by their favorite characters. Costumes are welcome, creativity is encouraged, and all ages are invited to sing along and celebrate the spirit of adventure! This is a free event.. Join in Santa’s Workshop for a festive and delicious afternoon with Santa and Mrs. Claus! Decorate your own gingerbread cookies, enjoy pizza, and make magical holiday memories with the whole family. Tickets are free but required for entry. Please reserve tickets for everyone who will be attending with you. Bring your holiday spirit and your appetite for an afternoon filled with cheer, creativity, and Christmas magic!
Join for a night of local stories! Ages 12+ are invited to submit a story or poem to read aloud (or have library staff read for them if preferred). Submissions should be no more than 1,500 words and family friendly. Invite your friends and family! Hot chocolate will be served.
Can your team solve the puzzles before time runs out? Sign up to reserve your spot in the challenge. No library card required. For incoming Grades 2-5. The instructions and game will take approximately 45 minutes. Do not sign up for more than one timeslot.
Get creative with color, texture, and imagination in this hands-on collage workshop just for kids! Participants will use paper, fabric, and found materials to design their own one-of-a-kind masterpieces while learning about shape, layering, and visual storytelling. This is a free event for children ages 8-12. Registration is required and opens Nov. 15.
