Listen for the melodic melodies of the natural world. What natural objects make sound? How have people made music using natural materials over the years? Join us as we jam out with nature! Cost for this event is $5.00 per person for children ages 3 and over and covers your park entry fee.

Enjoy the sounds of the forest on a crisp winter night and join Schramm naturalists to hike the forest after nightfall. Meet at the pond trailhead and bring a flashlight or head lamp. We will hike for about an hour and will walk about 2 miles, from the Pond Trailhead along the Hackberry Trail to the full Red Cedar Trail loop. There are stairs at the trailhead and one spot along the hike where there will be an elevation change and we will walk up a hill. This is a free program, but a State Park Vehicle Entry Permit is required.

This holiday season, get ready for a speedy cookie decorating challenge! Decorate a gingerbread cookie… but there’s a twist: you only have 10 minutes to make it a winner! Three prize categories are up for grabs: Best Quality, Most Colorful, Wackiest Design.

Come watch the Geminids Meteor Shower and stargaze at Neale Woods located at 14323 Edith Marie Ave. in Omaha. Our event will begin with a brief evening hike on dirt-packed trails through the prairie and forest. Then as night falls, we will stargaze together and watch for shooting stars while learning about meteor showers and general astronomy from our seasoned volunteer, Bob Fuchs.

Homeschool Hikes is a monthly nature exploration program hosted by the Schramm Education Center geared towards homeschool families. Each month, families can join a naturalist for a guided hike on the Schramm Park State Recreation Area hiking trails. During the program, participants will ask questions, draw, observe, and make discoveries in nature.

Test your sleuthing skills at the library! 🕵️ Follow the clues to find hidden objects and earn stamps. Turn in a full stamp card and receive a prize! Don't worry, the fun doesn't stop there... 🔍 You can grab a new card and keep playing! This activity is aimed at children ages 6-11, but younger siblings and parents can play along too. See you there, super sleuths!

Each date will have a special craft or activity and feature related photos from our Photo Archive for a bit of a history lesson while you celebrate. On Saturday, December 20, we explore the history and traditions behind Las Posadas! These drop-in programs do not require registration and are included with regular museum admission.
