Join at the Outdoor Heritage Complex at Platte River State Park on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Veterans Appreciation Day! They’d like to honor and show our respect for those who have served in a war, sacrificing of themselves for the common good of our country. The first 50 visitors with any military ID will receive a token for one free shooting activity. This is a family-friendly event and all are welcome.

Explore repujado, the traditional art of metal embossing, in this hands-on workshop led by visiting artist, Linda Garcia. Participants will learn how to create beautiful raised designs on soft metal using simple tools and techniques and create their own unique piece to take home. This is a free event for teens 13-18. Jingle is an annual fundraiser that supports their mission. This event is an evening filled with holiday experiences, cocktails, delicious food bites and a wonderful silent auction of 36 unique wreaths decorated by our schools. This fundraiser creates an opportunity for our donors to make a direct impact on the students in our community through a silent auction, school wish list items, raffles and more.
The brothers Joshua and Jeremiah Zimmerman are bringing their band, The Silent Comedy, to Omaha. With years of touring under their belts, this band mixes the sounds of the blues, honky-tonk, and punk, and is sure to bring a memorable show to the Holland. Their songs are rough-hewn, expansive American rock & roll with dirt under its nails and whiskey on its breath.

Our event will begin with a brief evening hike on dirt-packed trails through the prairie and forest. Help the princess build the most comfortable mattress! After reading The Princess and the Pea, participants will have one hour to complete a challenge: create a mattress so comfy that you can’t feel the “pea”! At the end of the program, we’ll put each creation to the test and see which is the comfiest. This is a free program for kids ages 8–10. Registration is required
Join OPL and Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project for a virtual interactive session! There will be a brief presentation on the significance of the lotus flower and the Lotus Lantern Festival, a step-by-step craft session where participants create their own traditional Korean lotus lantern, and a short documentary on Korea to close the event. This craft is suitable for ages 13+ and younger participants are encouraged to complete the craft with an adult caregiver.

Mush in to meet a real Iditarod racer and sled dog! Join Karen and Sophia, the Alaskan husky, for a presentation about mushing, a demonstration of Arctic clothing and gear, and a Q&A. Dog mushing is a traditional mode of Arctic transportation, and 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of the 1925 Serum Run with Balto and Togo — the historic event on which the Iditarod race is based. Celebrate these brave dogs and mushers with Karen and Sophia at the library!

If Santa isn’t your pup’s thing, they can shoot photos with just a festive holiday backdrop. Reservations are encouraged but walk ins will be welcome! Christmas at Union Station presented by FNBO festivities begin with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at The Durham Museum. All the good tidings and cheer lead up to the signature tradition of the night: the countdown to lighting Omaha's official Christmas tree, followed by a sing-a-long!
