We’ll begin by reading "Jayden’s Impossible Garden," a heartwarming story about a boy who finds beauty and nature in unexpected places—even in the middle of a city. After our story, we’ll head outside on a short winter nature walk to observe animal tracks, bare branches, dried seed pods, and other signs of life that often go unnoticed in the colder months. Back inside, we’ll share our discoveries and create a collaborative mural that captures the quiet beauty of Omaha’s winter landscape.

Be a geologist! Be a paleontologist! Find out what these scientists have in common and the tools they use. Learn how different rocks were formed, observe some real fossils, and make your own. This is a free event for ages 6-12.

Add your creativity to the library—or your own bookshelf! In this all-ages workshop, participants will decorate clear, acrylic bookends using paint, stickers, and more. You can choose to take your finished bookend home or donate it to the library. This is a free event for all ages.

Get ready for a cozy Winter Wine Walk at Midtown Crossing on Saturday, February 21, from 3 to 6 pm! Join instructor Alexis Espinoza-Arrubla as she leads a workshop on yoga and mindfulness for kids! This workshop offers a fun, engaging way for children and their caregivers to build body awareness, practice self-regulation skills and enhance overall well-being through practices such as yoga, mindful movement, games, relaxation techniques and arts + crafts. Limited yoga mats will be available, however, participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat or blanket.

Excitement is building for the 60th Anniversary Omaha Home & Garden Expo to be held Friday, February 27th through Sunday, March 1st at the CHI Health Center, 10th Street & Capitol Ave. The Omaha Home & Garden Expo has been an Annual Family Tradition since 1967. This year’s Show has become the area’s Most Complete showcase of the latest products and services for the Home – Inside and Out!

Join for Sensory Storytime! This storytime is designed for children with and without autism and other developmental disabilities. There will be visuals showing what to expect, a book or two, songs, and other play items. This is meant to be a quieter storytime than our weekly Toddler and ABC storytimes. Registration is required. Calling all gamers! Have a blast learning how to code while building robotic games to test your code. You will learn about sequencing commands, value and sensor inputs, and loops. Join on the first Thursday of the month for a special craft your little one can do with a Papillion Police Officer. Crafts will take place in the Youth Area. This month's craft project: Rainbow Tambourines

You'll be putting together multiple puzzles in a 2ish hour time frame. The fastest team (cumulative time) will win the top prize. Each team will be a team of up to 4 people. Every team will be doing the SAME puzzles, but how fast is up to you and how well you work together. Some people work better in a small group, and others work better in a big group. We are limiting it to no more than 4 per group and no less than 2 for fairness. Members: $20 per person / NonMembers: $25, Teams of 4: $80 member / $100 non-members

In this creative workshop, participants will use a instant camera to take pictures (and/or bring their own pictures!) and turn them into colorful scrapbook pages using paper, stickers, letters, and more. It’s the perfect mix of storytelling and hands-on art—no writing or crafting experience needed!

Enjoy a 90-minute princess experience in your very own city! Our event is a family-friendly princess meet & greet, giving every child opportunity for photos, hugs, and personal interactions with each fairytale friend in attendance. Join experienced knitting teacher Roxanne Wheeler as she teaches this class for beginning knitting. Participants will learn foundational knitting skills as we knit wash cloths which can be applied to numerous other knitting projects. Knitting supplies are provided, all you need to bring is yourself and your enthusiasm! Registration limited. Join our Creative Movement Workshop! Perfect for all levels, this fun session explores expressive movement to boost confidence and unique style. Learn a simple dance routine from a teaching artist with Pear Tree Performing Arts. This is a free event for kids 6-12. Registration is required.

Click Clack Duck will visit for a special storytime! Children of all ages are welcome. Experience stories, creative movement, music and more. We explore the early literacy skills of singing, playing, reading, talking, and writing in each storytime. There will be opportunities to take photos.

In this hands-on biodesign activity, visitors ages 8 and up will explore the fascinating world of biodegradable polymers derived from seaweed. Using alginate, a natural polymer found in large brown algae like kelp, participants mix a custom algae gel and transform it into colorful, squishy strings through a chemical reaction in a calcium bath. 

Celebrate the arrival of Pi Day at The RiverFront on 3.14! The RiverFront will have a variety of Pi-related activities. Come read our Pi Day story walk, enjoy crafts, games, and of course mini pies as you celebrate the mathematical holiday! Join at the 11th Street Promenade at Gene Leahy Mall!

STEM has never been so sweet! In this hands-on program, kids will explore science and engineering using tasty treats as their tools. From building with snacks to experimenting with edible creations, learning is fun when you can eat your experiments at the end! This is a free event for kids 6-10. Registration is required

Did you know some animals, plants, and even rocks can glow under special light—and you can see it too! Using a handheld blacklight, educators from Nebraska Wildlife Rehab will help uncover the science of biofluorescence with a unique presentation and hands-on glowing experiments! This is a free event for Teens 13+. Registration is encouraged.
