  • Monarch Tagging – FREE drop-in program

    Lauritzen Gardens 100 Bancroft Street, Omaha, NE

    Flutter over to the garden on Saturday, September 5 from 9 a.m. to noon for a monarch tagging event. Each fall, monarch butterflies set out on an extraordinary journey traveling thousands of miles to overwintering sites in Mexico. By gently capturing, tagging, and releasing these butterflies, researchers are able to track their migration, study survival rates, and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges they face along the way.     Join naturalists at E.T. Mahoney State Park in the James Family Conservatory and Nature Center classroom for a workshop where you will learn to make mini magazines with a nature theme. This program is best for ages 7 and up, but younger friends are welcome and may join or enjoy other nature center activities.
