Join OPL at different parks and places for storytime, featuring stories, creative movement, music and more. Storytime is geared toward preschoolers, but all ages are welcome. In November, we will learn about turkeys.
Join Teaching Artist Sam Lee from the Nebraska Writers Collective. Sam will lead a workshop that explores writing about food from the perspective of those cooking the food as well as writing about restaurant work and the connection between the cook and the consumer. Join Bri Wright from Golem Forge and try a new crafting hobby. They’ll be making Dragon Eyes out of clay based on the How to Train Your Dragon books by Cressida Cowell. All craft materials will be provided while supplies last. All you need is your imagination! Fantasy awaits! This is a free event for children 6-12. Registration is required.
Join Omaha Symphony musician Rosario Galante as he introduces the fun music the clarinet can make during this playful reading of "Kitten's First Full Moon" by Kevin Henkes. Designed for kids ages 3-5, this storytime is fun for friends of all ages with some support by their adults.

Roz needs your help! The poison tide is threatening her island, and she needs your help to figure out how to stop it! Work with others to solve clues and puzzles themed around the best-selling Wild Robot series by Peter Brown. Can you help Roz in time? This is a free event for children ages 6-9. Registration is required and opens Oct. 1. Please call 402-444-6284 to register. There will be a session at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The series is held on the first Wednesday of every month from 9 – 10 am and 10 – 11 am. The cost to participate is $5 per child and $5 per adult per program and includes admission to the Education Center after the program. Schramm Family Pass members participate free. A State Park Vehicle Entry Permit is not required in the Schramm Education Center parking lot.

Character booklets will be provided at the door and time given to read your part. Participants must be willing and able to “act” the part they are given. Join Teaching Artist, Chelsea Herman, as they guide us in the technique of pamphlet stitch binding. This hand-stitched binding is well suited for poetry chapbooks, imagery, and short texts or for creating elegant handbound catalogues, menus, and event keepsakes. Learn different variations of this binding and how each offers unique opportunities for presenting content. Patrons will bind their own pamphlet stitch booklet to take home. Suitable for all experience levels. This is a free event for adults 19+. All materials are provided
A special night honoring our Veterans. The event will include guest speakers, a laying of the wreath ceremony for our war representatives, music, and the grand lighting of the WWII Colonnade. Speakers include Mayor John Ewing Jr., Councilmember Pete Festersen, and special guests Colonel (Ret) Dwight Lydic. Refreshments will be served. We look forward to your attendance.
Join OPL and Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project for a virtual interactive session! There will be a brief presentation on the significance of the lotus flower and the Lotus Lantern Festival, a step-by-step craft session where participants create their own traditional Korean lotus lantern, and a short documentary on Korea to close the event. This craft is suitable for ages 13+ and younger participants are encouraged to complete the craft with an adult caregiver.

Local businesses kick off the season with a magical weekend of holiday shopping. Visitors will feel like they’ve stepped on the set of a holiday movie. Merry Market is a two day event starting on November 7th at 4pm to 8pm and continuing on November 8th from 9am to 5pm.
They're baaack! Game nights at the orchard - grab your family, grab your friends & head to the orchard for a laidback evening of playing games. They have board games & cards available there to play, but you are more than welcome to bring your favorite game to enjoy...all ages are welcome!

Council Bluffs Annual Parade to pay tribute to those who have served and sacrificed for our nation.
Join at the Outdoor Heritage Complex at Platte River State Park on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Veterans Appreciation Day! They’d like to honor and show our respect for those who have served in a war, sacrificing of themselves for the common good of our country. The first 50 visitors with any military ID will receive a token for one free shooting activity. This is a family-friendly event and all are welcome.
