Curiosity Crew is a one-hour, hands-on STEM program for children ages 2-11 that blends play, exploration, and early learning! May Theme: Bees and Other Pollinators! Stop by to learn about the important role pollinators play in our environment! Space is limited. Registration is encouraged.
Join OPL at “Once Upon a Time at the Castle,” a storytime and wildlife adventure in the enchanted gardens. Storytime will feature stories, creative movement, music and more. After storytime, learn about the real creatures we read about through live wildlife interactions and activities. This month we will learn about turtles.
A new chapter in outdoor entertainment is about to begin as Lauritzen Gardens unveils its new Oasis and Amphitheater—an open-air venue designed to blend music, nature, and community into one unforgettable experience. Set against a backdrop of vibrant gardens, winding paths, and seasonal blooms, the amphitheater offers a natural setting that elevates live performances beyond the traditional concert environment. Guests won’t just attend a show—they’ll be immersed in it, surrounded by the sights and scents of carefully curated landscapes that change with the seasons.
Experience the vibrant rhythms and joyful spirit of West Africa with the Adanu Heartland Ensemble in an engaging performance of music, dance, and cultural tradition. The group will perform “Funga Alaafia” song and dance and the “Banuwa” song with a clapping game. All audience members will be invited to participate in “Wya Wya” with the performers as your teachers!

In order for curious minds to bloom, it is essential to plant a love of reading at a young age. Join OPL at Lauritzen Gardens for stories that celebrate gardens, plants, insects and more, and discover the joys of nature, movement, music, and literature. Storytime is geared for preschoolers, but all ages are welcome. Lauritzen Gardens will offer free admission to families who attend this storytime.

Get to know the new OPL Do Space in our Skills Class! Each session will focus on learning a new skill, machine, or software. This session will focus on the intermediate 3D modeling skills. Participants will be able to ask detailed questions and design more complex items for print. Registration Required.

As America celebrates our 250th birthday, join this premier event with your family & friends to help Unfurl the World's Largest American Flag on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Omaha's Memorial Park. The flag will be unfurled at dusk (after a training session with volunteers), as drones overhead provide beautiful patriotic lighting.

Our Beats & Bites Stage performances feature a rotating lineup of solo acts and crowd favorites bringing everything from acoustic sets to soulful originals and covers. This summer, step into the magic of Disney and discover the iconic looks of some of your favorite Disney characters in an enchanting, up-close experience for all ages. Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume is a showcase of nearly 70 mesmerizing ensembles spanning close to five decades of Disney film and television.
In this workshop you will immerse yourself in making a mandala, the Sanskrit word for circle. Hindu and Buddhist traditions use mandalas as a tool for meditation and focus. Before you know it, the repetitive lines and designs will send you into a meditative state of calm and relaxation. Various options & sizes of drawing surfaces will be provided along with markers, colored pencils, string and magnets so that you can choose how to display your magnificently completed mandala. Try to see as many of the sights as you can before heading back to the library for a prize! All groups will begin and end at the Florence branch. This is a free event for adults 19+. Nancy will provide an overview of why pollinators are threatened and what we can do to help.
