Beat the heat at our summer Hydrant Parties! La Vista Recreation is partnering with the Papillion Fire Department to offer Hydrant Parties at various locations across the city. Kids can cool off, run wild, enjoy popsicles, and make a splash as the hydrant sprays water high into the air for nonstop summer fun.
Compete against other teams to complete the same puzzle in the fastest amount of time. All teams will be provided with a puzzle and will have two hours to finish the challenge. The first team to complete the puzzle wins! Space is limited, and registration is required.
What were living conditions like for soldiers and prisoners of war during the American Revolution? Celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence with the Omaha Public Library! This year they’re celebrating the ways America has changed over the last 250 years through a year-long lecture series. Each month we’ll offer a different presentation from local experts on American history, culture, or experience.

As the sun begins to set on the evening sky, Water Lantern Festival begins to shine with the launch of the lanterns onto the water as we Light The Water together. Watch your unique lantern drift out into the water as it joins other lanterns carrying hope, love, happiness, healing, peace, and connection. It's a night that you'll never forget.
In his book Moving to Higher Ground, composer Wynton Marsalis writes “Jazz shows us how to find a groove with other people, how to hold on to it, and how to develop it.” During this 21+ adults-only Night Light, we’ll explore the many ways we can take inspiration from the freedom and collaboration of jazz. Beyond music, we’ll consider how the principles of improvisation can shape how we build community and show up in our relationships and daily lives.
In this musical Night Light experience (ages 21+), we ask: What is a groove, exactly? How do humans find rhythm together, create harmony, and turn sound into song? What’s happening in the mind of a musician as they improvise their way through a classic tune, with one foot in tradition and one in the wild unknown? How can science inform creative practices?
There will be face painting, food trucks, music from The Personics (a family-friendly band) & of course, bomb pops!

Customize a ceramic masterpiece through the power of paint! Rosy Clay Co will provide a ceramic planter and all supplies to express yourself with a paintbrush. Once your creation is glazed and fired, you may pick it up from the Rosy Clay Co in downtown Papillion within 10-14 days.
Weird Al brings his legendary full-production multimedia comedy rock show back to the concert stage with the BIGGER & WEIRDER 2026 Tour, playing his iconic hits as well as some never-performed-live-before fan favorites. Al’s long-time band is joined by four additional players to create a super-sized concert experience.

July Theme: Experiments! Get ready to get a little messy! This summer we’re keeping our STEM skills sharp and our hypotheses ready with kid’s experiments. Experiments will use simple household items, may vary depending on age range, and come with all necessary safety equipment. If weather allows, a portion of the program will take place outside.
Get ready for a roaring good time! In this hands-on musical experience inspired by Dinosaurumpus!, kids become the musicians as they explore the many ways percussion instruments make sound—shaking, scraping, and striking along with the story. Guided by a staff member from the Omaha Symphony, young participants will stomp, chomp, and make music together while discovering how rhythm brings this dino-filled tale to life.
