July Theme: Experiments! Get ready to get a little messy! This summer we’re keeping our STEM skills sharp and our hypotheses ready with kid’s experiments. Get ready for a roaring good time! In this hands-on musical experience inspired by Dinosaurumpus!, kids become the musicians as they explore the many ways percussion instruments make sound—shaking, scraping, and striking along with the story. Guided by a staff member from the Omaha Symphony, young participants will stomp, chomp, and make music together while discovering how rhythm brings this dino-filled tale to life.

Join on the second and fourth Fridays of June and July for free outdoor movies on the big screen. Yard games and movie-themed activities begin at 7:30 p.m. Blankets, chairs, and picnics are encouraged. Each movie will have a food truck on site serving treats for purchase. Beat the heat at our summer Hydrant Parties! La Vista Recreation is partnering with the Papillion Fire Department to offer Hydrant Parties at various locations across the city. Kids can cool off, run wild, enjoy popsicles, and make a splash as the hydrant sprays water high into the air for nonstop summer fun.
Compete against other teams to complete the same puzzle in the fastest amount of time. All teams will be provided with a puzzle and will have two hours to finish the challenge. The first team to complete the puzzle wins! Space is limited, and registration is required.
Compete in teams to finish a 500-piece puzzle in 2 hours or less! Register your team of 2-4 people or as an individual looking to join another team. Registration open today online or in person by dropping by either library and speaking with a librarian. Check out Puzzle Swap happening at the same time. Bring a puzzle (or two) to leave, take a new puzzle (or two!) back home with you! No registration required.
