Saturday mornings belong to the kids. Heartwood Kids Club is a free weekly program filled with hands-on fun designed especially for children ages 4–8. Activities can include crafts, demonstrations, creative projects or interactive experiences each week brings a new surprise. Get ready to be a scientist AND an artist! In this workshop, you’ll meet a special soil bacteria called Streptomyces that makes a super cool color-changing pigment. Your mission? Use water and a set of tools to figure out how to pull the color out of the bacteria’s jelly-like home. Once you’ve cracked the code, the real fun begins! You’ll mix and experiment in test tubes to see the color shift and change right before your eyes. Then you’ll use your very own “bacteria ink” to paint a one-of-a-kind masterpiece to take home.

The Kids Markets is a nationwide movement that gives kids the platform to launch their own mini businesses. From slime to soaps, lemonade to lawn services—kids sell what they create, while learning real-life business and social skills.

Celebrate Father’s Day weekend with an unforgettable experience at our Father’s Day Car Show. From classic cars to modern builds, this one-of-a-kind event brings together horsepower and history inside our aircraft-filled hangars.
This annual event begins with a 5k road race starting in the City Park at 8 am, register in advance to receive a t-shirt or on race day starting at 7 am. The Kinderfest parade down Main Street begins at 11 am. Following the parade, the city park overflows with good old-fashioned fun! A petting zoo and blowups will await the kids. Game booths of all kinds will offer prizes: ring toss, duck races, basketball, cornhole, paddle wheel and more. Where Everyone is a Winner! Lots of food choices including: pulled pork, brisket, brats, burgers, walking tacos and home-made pie!
