Learn some simple tips and tricks to make a sidewalk look like it recedes or capture those tricky architectural angles. Be still and reflect for just a moment, train your brain to really see. We’ll use typical Urban Sketching materials (pens, pencils, watercolor) to show you a few easy methods that work when you’re sketching in the park or sitting on a curb….no rulers or math, promise! All materials included. Location: Arrival Plaza at The RiverFront Park. The workshop will take place near the entrance of the Kiewit Luminarium
Midtown Mix is a laid-back neighborhood gathering where music takes center stage and community comes together. Bring a lawn chair, claim a park bench, or settle in on a nearby restaurant patio and enjoy the show up close. Better yet, grab your favorite beverage to-go from a Midtown Crossing establishment and sip while you listen. Beer, wine, and champagne are permitted, making Midtown Mix the perfect way to unwind, connect, and ease into the weekend.
Have you ever wondered what the Forest looks like after the sun goes down? Now you can find out at our Full Moon Hikes! Come on an evening hike with us and experience the Forest under the light of the moon. This program will include an educational discussion of the nocturnal animals around the Forest and a brief talk about the lore of full moons. The guided hike will proceed after the discussion. After the hike, please join us for a seasonal snack.

Saturday mornings belong to the kids. Heartwood Kids Club is a free weekly program filled with hands-on fun designed especially for children ages 4–8. Activities can include crafts, demonstrations, creative projects or interactive experiences each week brings a new surprise. Kids must be accompanied by an adult, so the whole family can enjoy a playful start to the weekend together. Happening every Saturday morning June 13th through September.

The show is billed as one of Iowa's largest shows, with over 200 exhibitors presenting and selling thousands of unique, handmade products. Hours of the show are from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. on Saturday and 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. on Sunday. Admission is $6 and children 10 and younger are free. Parking is free throughout the show. All patrons who attend the show on Saturday will receive a two-day re-entry stamp.
