Jeff Quinn is roaring into our library with "Jurassic Magic", a dinosaur-themed Summer Reading Program magic show that's fun for all ages

Laugh and be dazzled by Jeff Quinn's amazing magic (and silly antics)! All ages invited. No library card or registration required. Bring chairs or a blanket. NOTE: This event takes place at the Gretna Crossing Park Amphitheater. Please dress for the weather. Rain location is Gretna United Methodist Church, 11457 S. 204th St.

Calling all gamers! Have a blast learning how to code while building robotic games to test your code. You will learn about sequencing commands, value and sensor inputs, and loops. This month you will create a robo mantis. Registration is required

We might need a bigger boat…or at least a bigger bingo card! Bring your friends or family to celebrate Shark Week with bingo. No prior knowledge of sharks is required to enjoy the game. This is a free event for adults and children ages 5 and older. Registration is required.

Janie York from Humanities Nebraska will explore the role our founding mothers played in the American Revolution. Women of the time used their cunning, creativity, and skills with the needle to craft a story of how they supported the military. You’ll meet activists, impersonators, and seamstresses who supported the war effort and in some cases changed its trajectory.

Bring a blanket to the park and join us for 30 minutes of dancing fun with Miss Abbey from Motion Works Dance. Most appropriate for kids ages 5 and under and an adult companion. In the event of inclement weather this program will be moved to the Library.

July Theme: Experiments! Get ready to get a little messy! This summer we’re keeping our STEM skills sharp and our hypotheses ready with kid’s experiments. Experiments will use simple household items, may vary depending on age range, and come with all necessary safety equipment. If weather allows, a portion of the program will take place outside.

Explore how salt, fat, acid, and heat affect flavor and texture while using your senses to observe changes during cooking. Presented by No More Empty Pots. Suggested ages 13+.

Enjoy a different activity or craft each week under the big picnic shelter in Peterson Park. Drop in anytime. Recommended for Grades PreK and up. No library card or registration required.

Something went wrong on a paleontology dig, and your team has been transported back to the age of the dinosaurs! You’ll need to work together to solve clues and puzzles hidden in the cave and your field gear to activate the portal device and “return home”. Can you escape the prehistoric world or will you be stuck with the dinosaurs forever? Registration is required.

Our friends from Omaha Children's Museum are back! We'll explore what happens to molecules when they're put to the test, in this show all about chemical reactions.

Join Jeff Quinn at the park for an hour of magical entertainment and be prepared to be AMAZED! In the event of inclement weather, this program will be moved to Library Meeting Room B.

Get ready for a roaring good time! In this hands-on musical experience inspired by Dinosaurumpus!, kids become the musicians as they explore the many ways percussion instruments make sound—shaking, scraping, and striking along with the story. Guided by a staff member from the Omaha Symphony, young participants will stomp, chomp, and make music together while discovering how rhythm brings this dino-filled tale to life.

Every great adventure needs two things: a hero to save the day and a villain with a clever plan. In this action-packed writing workshop, young writers will invent their own unforgettable heroes and devious villains -- complete with superpowers, weaknesses, secret hideouts, and big personalities. Once the characters are created, students will put them to the test by writing an exciting adventure story where the hero must face the villain's plan. By the end of the class, each student will have the beginning of their own heroic tale! This is a free event for children ages 8-12. Registration is required
