Educators from the Papio Natural Resources District and their turtle ambassadors are visiting to teach us about what makes a turtle...a turtle (and awesome!) All ages welcome.  No library card or registration required.

Come solve clues and puzzles themed around the Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. Can you help Violet, Klaus, and Sunny in time? This is a free event for children ages 8-12. Bring your imagination to life with stories and scrapbooks! In this creative workshop, participants will use a instant camera to take pictures (and/or bring their own pictures!) and turn them into colorful scrapbook pages using paper, stickers, letters, and more. It’s the perfect mix of storytelling and hands-on art—no writing or crafting experience needed!

Have you ever wished you could confidently build a campfire? Or, maybe you'd like to learn how to successfully build a fire in a survival scenario using only naturaly occuring materials? Perhaps you're interested in understanding the role fire has played in shaping Iowa's ecological communities?  If so, then this class is for you! This program is designed for adults and older teens who are new to outdoor skills, and who have a desire to deepen their place-based knowlege. Join naturalist Dustin Clayton and learn how to build a fire using a variety of techniques and materials.  We will have lots of time for practice and experimentation with the different methods discussed.

Help kick off Our Community Reads 2026: Coming Together! This is a family-friendly, all-ages community event to celebrate reading, crafting, and what makes this community special. Join for a first look during the open house, featuring self-guided tours, a camps & classes fair, and performances filling every classroom and rehearsal space.

Local sewist Alejandra will introduce us to the basics of sewing, hemming, and upgrading clothes to give them new life. This series is open to beginner & advanced sewists who want to try a new project, meet other enthusiasts, and share project ideas. Bring your own machine or use a library machine. Join for this special Meet a Musician storytime with the Omaha Symphony! They’ll be joined by a clarinet player who will bring the children’s book "Kitten’s First Full Moon" to life with live music. 

Did you know some animals, plants, and even rocks can glow under special light—and you can see it too! Using a handheld blacklight, educators from Nebraska Wildlife Rehab will help uncover the science of biofluorescence with a unique presentation and hands-on glowing experiments! This is a free event for Teens 13+. Registration is not required.
