Come create your own comedy stories with Shelly Nosbisch from the Nebraska Writers Collective! Participants will use a prompted writing activity to create their own project and share it with the others, if they want. This is a free program for ages 8-12. Registration is required.

Sushi with a twist! Come hang out and make your own sushi using Rice Krispie treats and candy. Learn about different types of sushi, test your skills with some chopstick games, and enjoy a fun (and tasty) challenge. This is a free event for teens ages 12-18. Registration is required.

Let your little one’s imagination run wild! Kiddie Craft is a hands-on, creative program designed for children to explore colors, textures, and simple craft techniques in a fun and supportive environment. Each session features themed crafts that help build fine motor skills, encourage creativity, and foster social interaction. Grown-ups are welcome to craft alongside their kids or relax nearby. It’s the perfect way to spark a lifelong love of art and play! Come create a fluffy paper cloud with raindrops to brighten up a rainy spring day!

Calling all gamers! Have a blast learning how to code while building robotic games to test your code. You will learn about sequencing commands, value and sensor inputs, and loops. This month, kids will create a Robo Frog. This is a free event for kids 6-9. Children under the age of 6 will not be admitted into this program. Registration is required.

In this hands-on biodesign activity, visitors ages 8 and up will explore the fascinating world of biodegradable polymers derived from seaweed. Using alginate, a natural polymer found in large brown algae like kelp, participants mix a custom algae gel and transform it into colorful, squishy strings through a chemical reaction in a calcium bath.

Stop by Metropolitan Community College (Nebraska) South Omaha Campus, Mahoney building, on April 11 from 11am until 3pm, for exciting hands-on activities (with new ones added every year), which encompass a variety of science disciplines including physics, chemistry and biology. This event is free and open to all!

Calling all crafters! The Papillion Public Library’s annual Fabric Swap will take place on Sunday, April 12 from 1-4pm. Refresh your fabric stash while reducing textile waste! Have clean fabric to donate? Drop it off at the Papillion Public Library’s front desk from March 22-April 10. No small scraps please.

In order for curious minds to bloom, it is essential to plant a love of reading at a young age. Join OPL at Lauritzen Gardens for stories that celebrate gardens, plants, insects and more, and discover the joys of nature, movement, music, and literature. Storytime is geared for preschoolers, but all ages are welcome. Lauritzen Gardens will offer free admission to families who attend this storytime.

Get to know the new OPL Do Space in our Skills Class! Each session will focus on learning a new skill, machine, or software. This session will focus on the introductory 3D modeling skills. Participants will be able to get to know the software Tinkercad and start their 3D printing journey!  Register now for this 2-hour, hands-on program.
