World O! Water is a fun, annual event for all ages to learn about the important role water plays in our lives and community. Everyone is welcome to this free event including families, youth groups and scout troops, and even your dog! Join in the fun on Saturday, September 12th from 12 noon til 4 pm at Chalco Hills Recreation Area. Enjoy a free hotdog lunch while supplies last.
The Fort Omaha Intertribal Powwow highlights Native American dance, music, regalia, oral history and arts. With its rich ties to Native American history, where Ponca Chief Standing Bear and his people were detained pending the 1879 landmark civil rights case granting Native Americans the right of Habeas corpus, the Fort Omaha Campus continues to offer an ideal location for this outdoor community event uniting people of diverse cultures, races, socioeconomic backgrounds and ages. This event is family-friendly and free and open to the public.
Celebrating Native American cultures, the powwow honors the traditional dance, music, artistry, oral history and foods of various tribes across Nebraska and the surrounding region including Omaha, Ponca, Santee Sioux and Winnebago.

Ahoy, matey! Are you ready for a treasure hunt? Join OPL for a pirate adventure as we go hunting for pirate treasure at the library! Come make a compass, learn about maps, and then use both to find treasure hidden around the library. This is a free event for children ages 8-12. Registration is encouraged but not required.
Homeschool Hikes is a monthly nature exploration program hosted by the Schramm Education Center geared towards homeschool families. Each month, families can join a naturalist for a guided hike on the Schramm Park State Recreation Area hiking trails. During the program, participants will ask questions, draw, observe, and make discoveries in nature.
Ages 12+. Jamie from Midwest Paranormal History Tours will be talking about the spooky history of Omaha. All ages welcome but it may be scary for young children.

In order for curious minds to bloom, it is essential to plant a love of reading at a young age. Join OPL at Lauritzen Gardens for stories that celebrate gardens, plants, insects and more, and discover the joys of nature, movement, music, and literature. Storytime is geared for preschoolers, but all ages are welcome. Lauritzen Gardens will offer free admission to families who attend this storytime. Rain or shine, we'll be there!
Explore digital storytelling through hands-on STEM and coding activities with our new community partner, Snapology! Kids will dive into robotics and coding using LEGO® bricks and technology—building skills and having fun along the way. This is a free event for kids 6-12. Registration is required.

Join for a "travelling history" presentation by a speaker from the Durham Western Heritage Museum. This event is free to attend and open to everyone. Lunch will be provided, so bring a friend!

No experience needed — just bring your imagination! This is a free event for teens ages 13 and up. All supplies are included and available while supplies last.

Annual Trunk or Treat is back on Thursday, October 16th from 4–8 PM at Quaker Steak & Lube! Bring the kids in costume for a safe and fun night of candy, decorated trunks, and Halloween vibes. Plus, it’s Classic Car Night—so shine up your ride and come show it off!

Daugherty Conservatory and enjoy the benefits of nature play in Sofia’s Play Garden. Guests can also explore our current exhibit, La Calavera Catrina, with eight larger-than-life skeleton sculpture installations staged in the garden. All guests receive free admission from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. No advance tickets are required.
