World O! Water is a fun, annual event for all ages to learn about the important role water plays in our lives and community. Everyone is welcome to this free event including families, youth groups and scout troops, and even your dog! Join in the fun on Saturday, September 12th from 12 noon til 4 pm at Chalco Hills Recreation Area. Enjoy a free hotdog lunch while supplies last.
The Fort Omaha Intertribal Powwow highlights Native American dance, music, regalia, oral history and arts. With its rich ties to Native American history, where Ponca Chief Standing Bear and his people were detained pending the 1879 landmark civil rights case granting Native Americans the right of Habeas corpus, the Fort Omaha Campus continues to offer an ideal location for this outdoor community event uniting people of diverse cultures, races, socioeconomic backgrounds and ages. This event is family-friendly and free and open to the public.
Celebrating Native American cultures, the powwow honors the traditional dance, music, artistry, oral history and foods of various tribes across Nebraska and the surrounding region including Omaha, Ponca, Santee Sioux and Winnebago.

Experience Insect Adventure, an all-new giant journey, featuring 35 supersized animatronic insects and spiders from around the world. In this workshop you will explore the use of various materials, colors and drawing techniques to create a bookmark. Choose a word or phrase that sparks inspiration and ignites imagination as you make your mark on the world through art. This workshop is a drop-in style workshop. Seats are limited and are first come first serve. Location: Arrival Plaza at The RiverFront Park. The workshop will take place near the entrance of the Kiewit Luminarium
Step into your favorite Saturday-morning cartoons and explore the remarkable world of storytelling through animation. Our much-anticipated summer exhibition, The Animation Academy: From Pencils to Pixels, invites visitors of all ages to leap into the fascinating realm of the cartoon genre. This unique exhibit provides a rare glimpse into the magic behind some of the most beloved animated films and characters, and offers a comprehensive exploration of the art, science, technology and history of animation.
Just how do instruments make sound? In this storytime with the Omaha Symphony’s education team, we’ll explore pitch and vibration in this interactive program centered around Mary and her Little Lamb (and Llama!). Designed for students ages 3-7, all ages are welcome in this musical adventure.

Discover the magic of mirrors and light in this colorful Make It session! Kids will create their own handheld kaleidoscopes using reflective surfaces, vibrant beads, and craft materials. As they build and decorate, they'll learn how light and symmetry work together to create ever-changing patterns. It's a creative, hands-on way to explore optics and bring home a mesmerizing toy of their own design! Registration is required for this event.
"$5 after 5" is back, giving guests an opportunity to visit the museum after 5PM on Tuesday evenings throughout the summer. From June 3-August 26, admission for all ages will be just $5 after 5PM on Tuesdays.
Bring your favorite stuffed animal friend to a pajama storytime! After storytime, your stuffie friend will stay at the library for a sleepover with the librarians, where we’ll take pictures of them doing all sorts of fun activities. This program is for kids ages 0-7, but older siblings are welcome too.
Join for Community Fishing Night at Kramer Lake! Look for the Family Fishing Trailer, where loaner rods and reels, bait and fishing instruction are available free to participants. Fishing Instructors are also available to provide helpful tips and answer questions. This is the perfect opportunity for people of all ages who have never been fishing or haven’t fished for years to learn.
Popcorn Productions, LLC and Eugene T. Mahoney State Park present three melodramas this summer: “Peril of the Storm,” “Baron’s Revenge” and “Troll of Trafalgar.” Performances take place at the Denman and Mary Mallory Kountze Memorial Theatre inside the park.

The Wednesday Night Workout Series offers a free mid-week outdoor workout, sponsored by Methodist Health System and led by licensed instructors from Genesis Health Clubs. Workout types vary from week-to-week, including popular favorites like Zumba, Mixxed Fit, PiYo and Barre.

PACE & Omaha Musician’s Association is excited to welcome you back to Bayliss Park this summer for some LIVE music. Wednesday nights, we have an amazing music event lined up for you. It's going to be a great evening of live music in the park, so make sure to gather your family and friends and come on down. Cool off this summer at the Summer Splash (formerly Hydrant Party). This La Vista summer tradition brings community members together to enjoy some outdoor fun with water. Local firefighters will be there to provide a giant sprinkler. Water toys and squirt guns are available for attendees to use and enjoy.

Each week, Quasar pairs up a local business with a local charitable cause, to present a “Classic” retro title for a “Free-to-the-Public ” event to raise awareness and support. The Washington County Fair has been a tradition for more than 100 years. The annual event provides a facility that allows 4-H members, businesses, organizations, and individuals to showcase their talents and products with an emphasis on agriculture.
Join American Midwest Ballet at the Performance Pavilion in Gene Leahy Mall for a free dance class. This class is open to all ages and led by a company dancer, and focuses on learning new steps and discovering the joy of dance.
Come face to face with some of the amazing critters you can find in the forest and learn all about why they are so neat! In the event of inclement weather, this program will be moved to the Library.
Participants will learn how animals use slime in nature and weird slime facts and will be invited to create a slime monster, blow slime bubbles or cut dripping slime with scissors. All supplies included. Children of all ages are welcome. Parents and/or caregivers are required to stay and help their children with this program.
