Join this summer for some stargazing at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park! Powerful telescopes will be set up at the park’s golf shack for a glimpse of the night sky spectaculars. The event is free to the public, but you will need a valid Nebraska park entry permit for your vehicle. Stargazing will begin at dusk. Remember to bring your camp chairs or blankets! Celebrating 10 Years of In The Market For Blues on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025! For one glorious day in downtown Omaha, Blues Music emerges from the bricks and fills the city well into the night. This is Omaha's Blues Festival!
On August 9, the topic will be aquatic ecology! Collect, observe, and learn about the fascinating creatures that call our lakes home and indicate the health of our environment. Meet in the Lake #4 parking lot at 8 a.m.

NOMAFEST features a powerhouse lineup that blends blues, funk, R&B, and jazz, with the first of the two-day celebration taking place in Turner Park. The festival promises unforgettable performances and a true taste of musical magic.

They’re joined by legendary blues-rock guitarist Eric Gales, known for his electrifying style often compared to Hendrix, and multi-Grammy-nominated saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin, bringing her bold fusion of jazz, funk, R&B, and soul!
Fueled by action, nostalgia, and a few surprises, this final doubleheader will celebrate the league’s 20th Anniversary! As part of the celebration, this event will feature a commemorative 20th Anniversary history display, limited edition merchandise, and a VIP section for past No Coast skaters and officials.
The Bishops at Stinson Park! There will be food and drink vendors, face painters, balloon artists, and playground equipment for kids to enjoy. Learn to paint the beautiful Nebraska native pollinator flowers that are sprinkled throughout the RiverFront park. While painting you will learn basic water techniques such as: controlling water (wet on wet, wet on dry), blending, and how to paint from observation. Overall, we will have fun, unwind, and enjoy native pollinator flowers. All levels welcome. No experience necessary. This workshop is a drop-in style workshop. Seats are limited and are first come first serve. Location: RiverFront Park at the Arrival Plaza outside of Kiewit Luminarium
"$5 after 5" is back, giving guests an opportunity to visit the museum after 5PM on Tuesday evenings throughout the summer. From June 3-August 26, admission for all ages will be just $5 after 5PM on Tuesdays.

Experience Insect Adventure, an all-new giant journey, featuring 35 supersized animatronic insects and spiders from around the world. Our much-anticipated summer exhibition, The Animation Academy: From Pencils to Pixels, invites visitors of all ages to leap into the fascinating realm of the cartoon genre. This unique exhibit provides a rare glimpse into the magic behind some of the most beloved animated films and characters, and offers a comprehensive exploration of the art, science, technology and history of animation.
Join OPL for a musical storytime with guests from the Omaha Conservatory of Music. This storytime will include a special musical story, songs with movement, and an instrument petting zoo, where participants can try out a violin, cello, glockenspiel, stirring xylophone, lollipop drum, and a shaker instrument.

Get ready for some fun and friendly competition on the second Wednesday of the summer months. They will be traveling to a new location within La Vista each month. Two quizmaster hosts will keep the questions coming as teams of up to six battle it out for prizes and bragging rights. No phones are allowed to find clues or search for answers to the questions. Food truck will be on site.
Join for Community Fishing Night at Fontenelle Park Pond! Look for the Family Fishing Trailer, where loaner rods and reels, bait and fishing instruction are available free to participants. Fishing Instructors are also available to provide helpful tips and answer questions. This is the perfect opportunity for people of all ages who have never been fishing or haven’t fished for years to learn.

Kids and teens who made their Summer Reading Program goals can redeem their Storm Chaser voucher for a free berm seat at an Omaha Storm Chasers game!
Popcorn Productions, LLC and Eugene T. Mahoney State Park present three melodramas this summer: “Peril of the Storm,” “Baron’s Revenge” and “Troll of Trafalgar.” Performances take place at the Denman and Mary Mallory Kountze Memorial Theatre inside the park.
