Join for a free two-day Halloween event at Two Rivers SRA! Activities include hayrack rides, trunk-or-treating, pumpkin painting, a raptor presentation, campsite decorating contest and more!
Join at Two Rivers State Recreation Area for Pinecone Pals on Saturday, Sept. 13. Learn about different ways that seeds are distributed and explore their unique characteristics. Check out some seed samples and be creative as you craft with pinecones. Stop by the pavilion east of the caboose park anytime between 1 and 4 p.m. This all-ages activity is free and open to the public. A valid Nebraska state park vehicle permit is required for park entry.
On August 16, the topic will be critter clues! Be a wildlife detective. Uncover critter clues left behind in the wild as you observe tracks, fur, scat and more. The event will be held at the pavilion east of the Caboose Park.
On August 9, the topic will be aquatic ecology! Collect, observe, and learn about the fascinating creatures that call our lakes home and indicate the health of our environment. Meet in the Lake #4 parking lot at 8 a.m.
On August, the topic will be owls! Celebrate Owl Awareness Day as you learn about these mysterious nocturnal hunters, dissect an owl pellet and more. The event will be held at the pavilion east of the Caboose Park.

On July 19, the topic will be cicadas! Groove to nature’s noisiest concert. From underground hideouts to sky-high serenades, we’ll uncover the world of these buzzing bugs. The event will be held at the pavilion east of the Caboose Park.
On June 14, the topic will be frogs! Hop in for a ribbit-ing leap into the world of frogs. Learn about Nebraska’s frogs, their habitats, adaptations and more! Meet in the Lake #4 parking lot at 8 a.m.
On June 28, the topic will be insects! Bug-out on a hands-on adventure where explorers will catch, observe, and learn about the incredible insects that call Nebraska home. The event will be held at the pavilion east of the Caboose Park.
Join Nebraska Game and Parks for a one-of-a-kind guided hike as we search for the secretive and often misunderstood reptiles and amphibians that share our Nebraska landscapes. From sunbathing snakes to chorus frogs calling from the wetlands, we’ll uncover the hidden lives of these unique creatures!
The Valentine's Day 5K is the 3rd race in 2025 Winter Fitness Series. The race takes place on a very flat 1.5 mile closed loop course at scenic Two Rivers State Park in Waterloo, NE. Just minutes west of Omaha. USATF Certified. Official times. Presented by Run Nebraska and 402 XC & Track. Great for first timers and those looking to stick to New Years Resolutions!
