Join Omaha Street Percussion for a workshop designed to give young patrons an opportunity to drum, while at the same time learn the importance of teamwork. Participants will be challenged to multi-task by using skills such as counting, listening, and watching for instruction and guidance in order to accomplish the ultimate goal, which is to perform as a whole group! Join OPL for a special storytime featuring the book Harry and Hot Lava by Chris Robertson! At the conclusion of storytime, children will be timed as they jump and hop their way through an obstacle course using various surfaces. Go as fast as you can, but don’t fall in because…the Floor is Lava! This is a free event for children 4+.
Compete against other teams to complete the same puzzle in the fastest amount of time. All teams will be provided with a puzzle and will have two hours to finish the challenge. The first team to complete the puzzle wins!

Yōkai, supernatural beings and phenomena from Japanese folklore and popular culture, are at once sinister and friendly, frightening and silly, and completely captivating to the imagination. Join Omaha Public Library and a representative from the Japanese Outreach Initiative for a brief exploration of the history of Yōkai and learn how to craft your own in various Japanese art styles. This is a free event for adults 19+.

Join OPL as we celebrate children around the world for DIA. We’ll take a look at the children and the culture of Japan with kamishibai, Japanese paper theater. This traditional method of Japanese storytelling combines beautiful illustrations with dramatic narration. A representative of the Japan Outreach Initiative will present kamishibai, answer questions, and tell us a little about children in Japan.
Spring is here, let’s get gardening! Join Omaha Public Library for an interactive workshop with No More Empty Pots to learn about sustainable food production and build skills that support sustainable food-growing and production practices, environmental consciousness, and improved food self-sufficiency. This is a free event for teens aged 13-18. Registration is encouraged.

Join OPL for a fun and loose storytelling event for adults! Adventures happen all the time and we want to hear about them! Do you have a favorite adventure you've ever had, or an adventure that didn't go quite the way you thought it would? Prepare a 5-8 minute story about your experience and come share with the crowd. Today there will be a special guests from Keep Omaha Beautiful who will read Ruby’s Birds by Mya Thompson. Just as Ruby learns to identify the birds in her neighborhood, we will also learn to observe specific features in order to identify common backyard Nebraska birds. They will make a tool to help us on our birdwatching adventures and conclude with a bird watching expedition outside.
Join Omaha Symphony musician Trevor Petersen as he introduces the fun music the cello can make during this playful reading of The Ugly Duckling. Designed for kids age 3-5, this storytime is fun for friends of all ages with some support by their adults.
