The Omaha Organization for the Purpose of Storytelling (OOPS) will have a special storytelling night at the library! Join as we listen to Irish folktales and stories. FREE! All ages are welcome!
Come meet local authors and learn about their latest books. Some may be selling copies, so if you would like to buy bring cash.
Ages 8-14. Stop by after school for a treat and a craft activity.
Ages 0-8. Enjoy a popcorn snack and listen to a story! Great activity for both littles and their older siblings after school.
Ages 18+. Internationally acclaimed flutist Dr. Beard will be discussing the complex role of orchestras and music in concentration camps in WWII. Includes a live performance.

Ages 10+. Tweens, teens, and adults can join us to crochet together! Bring your own project to work on or try to make something out of the library's scrap yarn. Beginners welcome.

Ages 8-14. Make art with yarn, tape, and popsicle sticks!
Ages 18+. This Month: France. Enjoy music, snacks, pictures and stories from places around the world.

Ages 2-6. Celebrate love, friendship, and fun at this heart-filled party! Wear red or pink outfits and get ready for a joyful celebration with cozy storytimes, simple crafts heart-themed activities and more.
Ages 10-18. Pizza provided. We will be playing Mario Kart this month!
This after school activity for ages 8-14 is the perfect way to unwind after school. Join Ms. Rachel and Ms. Ashley for a new craft every month as well as some tasty snacks! We will be meeting every fourth Thursday of the month at 4 p.m. (Children ages 8-10 need to have a guardian stay in the library).

Ages 8-14. How high can you make a tower with marshmallows and toothpicks?
Get creative and make some sweet art out of candy wrappers. Plus you can help the library youth advisory board make valentine cards for seniors in our community. Candy provided! Ages 10-18. Register at Front Desk
All Ages. Stop by and make a valentine card. While supplies last.
Think you're a puzzle master? Want to enjoy a morning of puzzling!? Gather a team of 2-4 people (all age combos accepted) and race to assemble a 500-piece jigsaw puzzle. 1st and 2nd place winners will win a gift card. Puzzles are provided and teams get to take their puzzle home. Feel free to bring a drink to go with the donuts we are providing. Registration Information: This program will only be held if we get a minimum of 5 teams to register. You may sign up in advance by calling of visiting the front desk. On the day of the competition doors will open at 9:30 a.m. and the contest will begin promptly at 10 a.m. If you show up late you will be at a disadvantage.
Ages 2-6 Celebrate the amazing animals of the Arctic and Antarctic with stories, crafts, game, and activities inspired by penguins, seals, polar bears, and more.
Ages 8-12. This afterschool program for ages 8+ meets the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Each meeting we will have a different craft, activity, or game to do. Supplies will be out from 3:30-5 p.m.
Write a letter and send it off to the North Pole. If you drop off a letter by December 13, you’ll get a response mailed back before Christmas. You can ask Santa questions, share a story, draw a picture or just let him know what gifts are on your wishlist this year. Drop your letters in one of the special mailboxes at Santa’s Workshop or at the Library. (No postage needed.) Be sure to include your name and return address so Santa knows where to send his reply.
Ages 10-18. How well do you know your sweets? Participants will identify candies in a blindfold taste test. Registration Required
Ages 18+. Create a cute pumpkin decoration with needle felting! Registration Required

Ages 0-7. Costumes are welcome but not required. They are asking for candy donations to help make this event extra fun for all the kids. Any individually wrapped candy is welcome. Donations accepted until October 14.
Ages 12+. Jamie from Midwest Paranormal History Tours will be talking about the spooky history of Omaha. All ages welcome but it may be scary for young children.
Ages 6+. Do you have an unfinished craft or something in your house that is a little blah! Bring it to the library to decorate it! We provide paint, glitter and other craft supplies for you to use.

The second Friday of June and July for a free outdoor movie on the big screen. Blankets, chairs and picnics are encouraged. Movie Starts at Dusk.
Cool off this summer at the Summer Splash (formerly Hydrant Party). This La Vista summer tradition brings community members together to enjoy some outdoor fun with water. Local firefighters will be there to provide a giant sprinkler. Water toys and squirt guns are available for attendees to use and enjoy.
