The park transforms into a beach-themed playground featuring giant sand sculptures, sand sculpting lessons, giant water slides in the Amphitheater, games and festive food. Conservation Day at Heartwood Preserve—a fun, family-friendly event focused on sustainability and simple ways everyone can help protect our planet. Stop by informational booths to learn practical tips on living more sustainably and how even small actions can make a big impact. Guests can also pot and take home their own vegetable plant, perfect for starting a garden at home. Bring along your old electronics for our free e-waste recycling station, and help keep harmful materials out of landfills.
Heartwood Preserve is partnering with Collective Church to host the 5th annual Eggstravaganza. 30,000 eggs will be distributed across multiple egg hunts for various age groups (ages 12 & under). The egg hunts will be at staggered times starting at 1:00pm. There will also be bounce houses, face painting, balloon artists, a fire truck and police car, and a variety of food trucks. This is a free event, but please bring money for the food trucks.
The sledding hill is open 12–6 PM on select weekends, transforming the amphitheater into a snowy playground for all ages. Grab a saucer (or bring your own), take the hill, and enjoy the ultimate winter thrill—no lift ticket required!
Heartwood Preserve and Nebraska Snow Sculpting are proud to present the 2026 Nebraska Snow Sculpting Championships, held at Heartwood Park in Omaha. Teams from across Nebraska will compete for the title of Nebraska State Champion and the opportunity to represent the state at the 2027 U.S. National Snow Sculpting Competition.

Welcome to what will quickly become another Omaha tradition. We are taking over the Heartwood pop up winter rink for a full four hour Chanukah party. To reserve your skating time just email the rink at the posted address. You do not need to be an ice skater to have a great time. There will be Israeli donuts, the latke truck, hot cocoa stations, crafts for all ages and the debut of our ice sculptured Menorah. When the sculptor finishes, we will light it together. Watching a Menorah emerge from a block of ice is a sight you will not forget.
