This hand-stitched binding is well suited for poetry chapbooks, imagery, and short texts or for creating elegant handbound catalogues, menus, and event keepsakes. Learn different variations of this binding and how each offers unique opportunities for presenting content. Patrons will bind their own pamphlet stitch booklet to take home. Join OPL and Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project for a virtual interactive session! There will be a brief presentation on the significance of the lotus flower and the Lotus Lantern Festival, a step-by-step craft session where participants create their own traditional Korean lotus lantern, and a short documentary on Korea to close the event. This craft is suitable for ages 13+ and younger participants are encouraged to complete the craft with an adult caregiver.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be in a play? Now’s your chance to learn! The Circle Theatre will bring part of the cast of “Momotaro: the Peach Boy of Japan” to share what it’s like to put on a play. They’ll perform a scene from the play, teach us a traditional Japanese dance, and help us create a Japanese bunraku puppet so that we can be part of the action, too. You will be “locked” in a room, and in order to escape in time, you will need to solve various puzzles and clues related to the RMS Titanic before your time is up. There will be a session at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m for participants ages 13-18. Maximum of 10 people per room per time slot.

Join OPL for a musical storytime with guests from the Omaha Conservatory of Music. This storytime will include a special musical story, songs with movement, and an instrument petting zoo, where participants can try out a violin, cello, glockenspiel, stirring xylophone, lollipop drum, and a shaker instrument.

Today we will have tree-mendous fun with Keep Omaha Beautiful educators! We’ll read the story Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert and watch as Leaf Man rides the wind and journeys across the land. After reading the book, we’ll take a short nature walk to explore our own library landscape and collect nature treasures. We’ll finish our adventure by making our own leafy creatures.
At this storytime, they will learn about fire safety with a local firefighter and even see a fire truck!
Dear T-Rex and other area dinosaurs, you are cordially invited to a tea party at Omaha Public Library, based on the picture book “Tea Rex” by Molly Idle! Refreshments will be served and tea will be hosted by a Tea-Rex wrangler. Bring your favorite stuffed or plastic dinosaur friends to enjoy the party! This is a free event for children ages 5-9.
